probably for the same reason that most people like me dont even consider memphis is apart of tn.
I think you hit the nail on the head. As one author has pointed out, Canada is closer to Kingsport than Memphis. Plus, Memphis has very little culturally connecting it to either the middle or east grand divisions. Instead, it's culturally connected to Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana as a result of the Mississippi River and and its cotton culture. John Adams' article actually did a good job of pointing this out.
It's a shame that the rest of TN can successfully ignore Memphis to all of our benefit for 364 days of the year, but it bites us in the butt on this occasion.
i think that has been hinted around but no one has the balls to say anything!
Exactly. Race has nothing to do with it. I'd say its more of an income and culture issue.Well I'll say it!!! There are a bunch of black people but you know what...there are a bunch of white people here too! This is a racially divided city and it sucks living here at times but it's home....so not everybody in Memphis loves Ole Miss, Arky, or whoever...granted a bunch do!
There are thugs and poor white trash here that makes Memphis the sewer of the state but there are some good people here like MYSELF THAT BLEED ORANGE!!!
Oh and I'm black too!
GO VOLS!!!!
