I think you hit the nail on the head. As one author has pointed out, Canada is closer to Kingsport than Memphis. Plus, Memphis has very little culturally connecting it to either the middle or east grand divisions. Instead, it's culturally connected to Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana as a result of the Mississippi River and and its cotton culture. John Adams' article actually did a good job of pointing this out.

It's a shame that the rest of TN can successfully ignore Memphis to all of our benefit for 364 days of the year, but it bites us in the butt on this occasion.

THe biggest hinderance is proximity. Memphis is closer to Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas and even Vandy. UT has alot of competition that is much closer in proximity.

Memphis is crapville. Have you ever been there? Compton, CA has more in common with Memphis than Knoxville does. I'm all for digging a big @ss ditch and pushing it over to Arkansas.

So no one is going to stir up the pot and mention something about black people?

i think that has been hinted around but no one has the balls to say anything!

Well I'll say it!!! There are a bunch of black people but you know what...there are a bunch of white people here too! This is a racially divided city and it sucks living here at times but it's home....so not everybody in Memphis loves Ole Miss, Arky, or whoever...granted a bunch do!

There are thugs and poor white trash here that makes Memphis the sewer of the state but there are some good people here like MYSELF THAT BLEED ORANGE!!!

Oh and I'm black too!

GO VOLS!!!!

I have been blown away at the amount of recruits that just left us and decommitted. I know they have pulled some good ones. But how hard should it be to keep some of these highly recruited people and maybe get more of the Tennessee kids. I am very disappointed with alot that has gone on with all the decommits. The fence fell down apparantly. The only one I am not upset about is the Oku kid. I watched tape on him and wasn't that impressed. Stars don't always mean they will pan out. Hope Brown sucks it up at Georgia. Being from Memphis, he probably will be academically ineligible anyways. UT could have helped him that department. Some of this may be misspelled. In a hurry. Go Vols, hope he coaches well next year. Don't want to see everybody wanting him fired so soon. Good Luck Kiffin

Exactly. Race has nothing to do with it. I'd say its more of an income and culture issue.
