Not bogus. Bowls didn't count until the 70s. Ut lost at ucla week 1 then ran the table. USC lost in November to Oregon state. USC beat ucla 2 weeks later. The NC could have gone either way. If usc's schedule had ucla and Oregon state reversed, ut is NC.

Don't forget that ut doesn't claim 1939, in which we went undefeated, untied and unscored upon.

I might add that ut stomped Alabama in 1967 at legion, the winner of 4 of the previous 6 NCs.

Because in 67 the vols were ballin out of control struttin through k'ville like a boss and everybody liked it so they did the right thing and made them national champs. Anyone else making the claim is just a poser. :salute:

I always laugh at fans that brag about how many championships they have and the last one was in the 30s. *cough A&M cough* it doesn't matter to recruits. "We won the title in the 60s you know?"

There are a lot of things that recruits couldn't care less about. 1 of them being Kiffin. Kiffin coming back is a big deal to the fans and that's about it. None of the players or coaches care.

Hell, the coaches should thank him. Him leaving is what ultimately allowed Butch and Staff to be here.

We can argue semantics and win/loss all we want. The bottom line is UT fans don't plaster all these mythical championships all over cars, t-shirts, and tattoos the way Bama fans do. That alone makes their claims more silly.
