Honestly I know I'm not as versed on political matters as alot of people are in this topic. However, the other night I saw something that just made me scratch my head. I have no problem with people trying to help out animals at all. People can spend money as they choose and I understand that. But the other night on TV I saw Bob Barker and Cher petitioning for the release of an Elephant in California. I'm sure this is a big story that I have just somehow not paid attention to. The thing that caught my attention the most was Barker saying he was willing to donate 1.5 million dollars of his own money to get this elephant freed. The first thing I thought of honestly was that money could do alot of good for HOMELESS kids all across America. I'm sure in LA there are kids every night that are going hungry because their parents can't afford to feed them. Then I see Barker is willing to give 1.5 million to save an elephant.
Maybe that's fine and I shouldn't think the way I do but I think if I had the kind of coin he does that if I was going to part with 1.5 million so easily I would spend it on kids somehow or another. Juvenile diabetes fund, Childrens cancer research, help homeless kids, etc. And maybe Barker has donated a bunch to kids - I'm not trying to pick on him. It just made me think of how IMO some people have their hearts maybe in the right place but their priorities wrong.
Sorry to ramble but it really just bugged me a bit. There are plenty of wealthy people and some not as wealthy that do a bunch for kids the way it is. I was just took back because he was willing to spend 1.5 million to free this elephant that looked like it had a fine setup the way it was.
