The point of this trial is definitely to drive home that Trump had sex with Stormy Daniels while his wife was pregnant. It's an effort to embarrass this guy who is shamelessly selling autographed bibles in order to pander to a Republican constituency. Welcome to American politics in 2024.

Still .... it should be said that it was stupid to write that $130K check a month before the election. Let her say what she wants. She was a porn star, with no proof of anything .... until that inexplicable check.

Sidebar comment about American judicial industry:
The concept of everyone equal under the law and justice being blind has become nothing more than high minded PR. I have no faith in our judicial system. And the quote above from BB is a big reason for that. If politicians, officials, and those in the judicial industry want respect they need to behave in a respectable way.

I wouldn't go that far .... but if Trump wasn't running for President? This wouldn't be a thing. Just like the Republicans wouldn't be pursuing allegations against Hunter Biden so aggressively if his dad wasn't running for re-election. It's politics.

It's not. 90% of those on the right were all-in on punishing Hunter Biden for fraudulent tax returns and exonnerating Trump for taking actual results and creating fake income statements..(For the record, the $450MM is still BS).

I'm consistent. I laid out my reasons for why Hunter originally got a sweetheart deal that wasnt available to most with his fact pattern and why Trump should have some penalty (a small fraction of the $450M)

Raw dogging porn stars and paying them off isn't a crime. Trump clearly set up this bookkeeping arrangement to get best answer from a tax perspective and to prevent settlement docs from being leaked by tax authorities.....

I pulled it out of the air but I'm not far off. The same people who were on board with Hunter's punishment were the same ones opposed to Trump's

The check was written to prevent Stormy Daniels from going public with details of their tryst just prior to the 2016 Presidential Election. Hence the non-disclosure agreement that she was forced to sign. Also, this situation isn't as pristine as you want to make it out to be. Apparently, the attorney for Stormy Daniels acted in bad faith. The guy colluded with the Trump Campaign to get her to agree to take as little as possible and sign the NDA. This is already public information which will be emphasized during the trial. It had everything to do with the 2016 election.
