Why I laugh at Obama supporters

I just keep waiting for a newscaster with some stones to ask a high profile Obama supporter the one question that I think ever Obama supporter needs to ask themself, 'If Obama was white, would you vote for him?' It seems to me that a lot of people have bought into an Obama brand where they think it says something about themselves (progressive, open minded, non-racist) that they support Obama. His support only impresses me in the sense that he is obviously a good marketer.

QFT........

Is that question relevant?

Should we ask McCain supporters the same question if he were black, or if he were a woman? Should we ask Hillary supporters the same if she were black, or were a man?

I'm sure Obama's mixed-race, mixed-ethnicity background has influenced who he is and how he lives his life and how he will lead, just as Hillary's and McCain's backgrounds affect them and their lives. Why would we care to imagine if they had different backgrounds?

And, FWIW, Obama is half caucasian.

the number of people that would vote for mccain soley because he is white is far lower than the number who would vote for obama soley because he was black. if race didn't matter, obama wouldn't have 90% of the black vote (as of the conn primary).

but since it's such a small % of the overall vote does it really matter?

I think the point of that question does a candidates race matter to most Americans. If so then the answer would have to be no. That certainly does not seem to be the case with the black vote as far as percentages go. How much of that has to do with race I do not know.

I found that awfully presumptuous.

I found this hysterical.

Is it really nessassary to point out something that is widley known, and or, how does it validate any of your points on the "race" issue?

I also found this quizzical.

BTW, I thought your username sig (or whatever it's called) read "Obama Hound."

I really wonder, I have no doubt that Kerry would be an absolute failure.

The one I wonder about is Gore.

In some deep pocket of my intestinal track I believe he would have handled things a lot better and we would still have a GOP congress.

In all reality, I think I would prefer it that way.

My only hang up is getting more nut jobs on the supreme court.

You REALLY think Gore would have handled 9/11 better than Bush? I couldn't disgaree with you more.

Yeah, Bush handled 9/11 in spectacular fashion.

I have no doubt that Gore would have went after Afghanistan.

Um, he did handle it... if you want to debate Iraw, that's something else. Please watch video clips of Gore since 2000 and then tell me he would have been a good prez.

What exactly did he handle?

Rudy and Bloomberg cleaned up NYC.

Why state the obvious about Gore, he lost an election that was heated and he reacted to it. I would be pretty pissed off too. It does not mean he would react in the same way with 9/11.

I am all for saying democrats are inhuman and cannot be trusted, but at some point you have to sit down and realize there really isn't that much difference between us.

i very much doubt gore would have invated afganistan as quickly. i think he woudl have been a worse president than bush

I have to agree, I just don't see Gore reacting as strong or as quickly. That's not the only reason I think Gore would have been bad, he would have been terrible on military spending, taxes, and the usual liberal stances.

It's not that he was mad he lost, the guy is extreme. Listen to his soundclip when he spoke at Moveon.org, adn the comments he's made over the years.

Whose government has been bigger than W's?

At least with Gore in the WH we would have had a check with a GOP congress.
