I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm honestly curious. I completely understand for Virginia Vols fans and those in the Tri Cities area, now the game is closer and more accessible. But from the universal acclaim the scheduling of this game has received, you'd think 100% of CFB fans were also NASCAR fans.

I've never watched or been to a NASCAR race so I'm assuming there is some sort of significance that is escaping me and I'm honestly wanting to know what that is, since everyone else seems to "get it.":hi:

The publicity, it will get national attention, help with recruiting, will likely shatter the college football attendance record etc.

No, I've never been to any race. That's why I'm asking.

Neyland would fit inside of it. It holds 160k people. We will shatter any attendace records in existence for a football game. We will gets tons of national publicity. We can use it as a recruiting tool. Umm its against Tech which is kind of a rival even though we never play them..

This.

Its something thats never been done before. It has nothing to do with liking or not liking NASCAR.

Well, it will break the record for attendance in all of college football. It has recruiting advantages starting now and until who know how long after the game is played. And my personal favorite is a chance to beat the crap out of the Va Tech idiots in the biggest game ever.

Yeah if we lose or play a piss poor game, it could be bad. Hopefully by then CBJ will have established himself here at UT and have his system well in place.

If we are looking like crap in Butch's fourth year with the caliber of recruits that he is reeling in, then he is obviously not the guy. But win or lose, the amount of exposure from this event is simply priceless. BTW, Frank Beamer may not even be the coach for VA Tech in 2016. He always has a solid team but the program seems to be on the decline imo.

Would you rather see the Vols play Austin P to a crowd of 85,000 in Neyland or go to Bristol and watch them play VT in front of the largest ever crowd to watch a CFB game?

I get that they were 7-6 last year, but even including that year's W/L record Va Tech is 91-30 since 2004 with every year registering 10 or more wins aside from last year. They're currently 6-1 this year. If that's decline, we're absolutely abysmal.

I think it's mostly the media attention. Nobody has done anything like this before. This would cut my drive in half but I would rather go to Neyland myself.

It's not like they will be racing or qualifying during the game. This has nothing to do with NASCAR. That would be like saying a basketball game on an aircraft carrier has something to do with war.

I wish football season lasted as long as NASCAR season.

What do those guys get like a two week break before they start back up?

You wouldn't be able to field a team with all the injuries lol

True :(

Most of my family is race crazy. I've been to Bristol several times. The camping, tailgating and hanging out with family & friends is awesome.

The race...not so much. Just not my thing.
