Why is everyone so excited about the game at Bristol?

Just a random thought....how well are people gonna be able to see this game? I know how excited I was to find out that we were gonna be playing here but realistically....i think the vantage points of actually watching the game without nocks will be difficult to see everything since neyland stadium itself can fit inside with room to bare.....am i right??

If we are looking like crap in Butch's fourth year with the caliber of recruits that he is reeling in, then he is obviously not the guy. But win or lose, the amount of exposure from this event is simply priceless. BTW, Frank Beamer may not even be the coach for VA Tech in 2016. He always has a solid team but the program seems to be on the decline imo.

Best thing that could happen for the Vols is Beamer to stay in the job through the 2016 season IMO.

He has gotten incredibly stale there and his teams have been pretty mediocre lately on offense.

I think it will be terrible and there will be some obstructed view seating based on my experience with BMS and the logistics of what they are doing.

That being said....is it still worth it to go watch this historic game, even if you can't see a flippin thing lol?

Oh, I am definitely going to be there.

Been to plenty of races there that I have been too drunk to see :)

Just a forewarning to be careful when getting tickets.

agree with the OP. I just can't see how the kickoff game for 2016, with a record-breaking crowd and wall-to-wall ESPN coverage, could help at all. Let's just scrap the idea

All of this. Except it won't be the kickoff game. It's September 10 so it probably won't even be our first game.

I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm honestly curious. I completely understand for Virginia Vols fans and those in the Tri Cities area, now the game is closer and more accessible. But from the universal acclaim the scheduling of this game has received, you'd think 100% of CFB fans were also NASCAR fans.

I've never watched or been to a NASCAR race so I'm assuming there is some sort of significance that is escaping me and I'm honestly wanting to know what that is, since everyone else seems to "get it.":hi:

Very likely to set a CFB attendance record that will never be touched. I only wish it could be done next year for the publicity.... and an opportunity to play VT while their somewhat down.

It's an exciting game, but my first thought was about how well you'll be able to see the game. Yes Bristol is bigger and yes cars are larger objects to follow. I'll probably go to the game, but I got a feeling a lot of folks will be trying to watch the game with binoculars.

''Screens will be added inside the facility so everyone can still see everything,'' he said.

There's the answer to your problem.

That's my only complaint about large stadiums, neyland included. If I have to watch the jumbotron to see what is going on, why am I not in the comfort of my own home watching the game?

You (VN, not you specifically) can bash me all you want but I'm not the only one with that mindset, which I believe is clear with all the teams across the nation reporting low attendance. The viewing experience at home with large HDTV's has made watching at home with friends on par with going to the games, to some viewers.

"Sigh" because once in a while it's good just to GTFO of your comfort zone and be a part of something new and exciting! Come on, have a sense of adventure for God's sake! You can sit on your ass and watch football on your TV anytime! This is a once in a lifetime event that's going to set a record and make history. So what if you have to deal with a few inconveniences!

I believe UT will be a very solid team in 2016. I hope VT is as well. It would be a real buzz kill if it was a lopsided affair IMO and insignificant on a national level. Believe College Gameday could not ignore this game and will be there. I want the significance to stand on its own merits regardless of where the game is played.

Two top 10 teams would be very significant.

THIS is why we're so excited!

Go Vols!!!

Screw having the band at halftime. How about a few laps around the track? Put the ESPN crew riding shotgun in some cars. Or have CORSO ride up to make his prediction in a decked out Orange and White NASCAR, get out of the car wearing Smokey mascot.

Well, it will break the record for attendance in all of college football. It has recruiting advantages starting now and until who know how long after the game is played. And my personal favorite is a chance to beat the crap out of the Va Tech idiots in the biggest game ever.

The majority of the VT fans base is made up of Alumni. It's a very good engineering school, so I wouldn't consider them idiots.

I can think of 159,999 inconveniences.

PEOPLE! OMG! LOTS OF PEOPLE!!!! AAAAGGHHHH!!!!

Have we become such a society of hermits?

Come one man! If you can deal with 102,000 at Neyland you can deal one time with 160,000 at Bristol.

True, but I think it's one thing to be annoyed by a few people and another to be annoyed by large crowds from time to time. Besides, my first job out of college was working for the Georgia Dome. Working on game days and dealing with the drunk/rude fans kind of killed the game day experieince for me.

Gameday will be there, of course, but it reeks of gimmick, and so as to your other comments, prepare to be disappointed.

Dude haven't you heard? We're Generation Y, we don't do crap if it inconveniences us in the slightest.

Some people have legit issues with crowds, PTSD/anxiety etc. I think it's more common than people think but still vast minority.
