Why is everyone so excited about the game at Bristol?

lawgator1,think of it as a bowl game and not a regular season game and you might understand. Someone has already reserved all 226 rooms at the Holiday Inn on I-81. It's in todays Bristol Herald Courier. I DO believe there is an interest in this awesome event to come.

Be easy on him. After all he's a gator--not too bright!!!!!

The deal is.... This game is not going to sway a recruit to sign with Tennessee. BUT, it is like a good piece of apple pie with ice cream after a good meal. Just a little something extra to put on the table to sweetin' the pot. Va. tech is the only other team in the nation that can offer this. This game is a positive as far as recruiting goes. Also don't be supprised if the fan count does'nt go up to close to 200,000. They can put in extra bleachers on the straightaways, pits, and turns. That would easly push the number's to 200,000.

You really think this gimmick will bring in that many? Its a shame both universities are making so little. This was done for publicity as the primary reason with income secondary. Goodness! Things are upside down these days. The changes we have seen in the past fifteen years.

I think the event sounds fun for a lot of people but the view distance would be a deal breaker for me. I need HDTV or relatively close proximity to really enjoy a game. I also probably need glasses so there is that to consider as well.

I think a lot of people and especially players will enjoy this one. I think I would have more fun watching at home unless I had some amazing seats. GBO

And their in lies the problem with attitudes like this. HDTV has absolutely spoiled people to the point where the "experience" of going to an event like this no longer matters. It's not about how well you can see, or dealing with the traffic, or dealing with all the people, or the high concession prices, etc. It's about wanting to be a part of history, to say you were there, to enjoy ALL the sights and sounds-not directly related to the game itself. It's about enjoying the company of other UT fans along with rival fans. I swear some people have completely foregone their sense of adventure in the name of comfort and convenience.

Note: Those who cannot swing it financially, have genuine issues with crowds, or have other obligations that prevent you from going I'm not talking about you. However I truly believe that if you are a UT fan and you COULD go, the you absolutely SHOULD go!

So it's not about watching the actual game but rather the warm fuzzies you got while there from the loud sounds of fellow fans and the "environment."

I get what you're saying, but technology has changed the game. Don't bash someone for having a differing perspective. I can argue both points. I've been to Neyland and had not so great of seats and there were times where I really didn't know what just happened - I had to look at the replay on the jumbotron. I've also had the best seats in the house (IMO) actual railed off SEATS on the 45-50 on row 19-20. And obviously I've watched it on TV. After all of my experiences, how good of seats I can get, or rather my viewing experience, dictates whether I go or not. Where ever I'm at, my aim is to WATCH THE GAME. So if I'm on the front row behind the field goal corner and I can't see crap why am I there?

I love ball games, from pee-wee to college and Neyland when rocking is certainly an awesome experience, but none of those things even remotely trigger my sense of adventure. That is all great stuff, but not even in the realm of adventure for me.

If you think that game means a damn thing to any NFL caliber recruit you have to be a girl or under 28 y o

Yes but what you are talking about is the typical, the norm. Seeing a game played at Bristol Motor Speedway, with 160,000+ is not the norm. It's not an opportunity that comes along every day.

I'm going to assume that being a gator fan, you also post in Florida forums as well right? Seeing as how you've logged 32,000 + posts in THIS forum, along with however many you've logged in Florida forums, you must be the WORST lawyer in the country!

I don't think I am. Pretty sure, in fact.

He won't admit it but lawgator is downplaying this whole thing just a bit. I agree that this and this alone won't be the deciding factor for recruits but it WILL be a factor! Think about it. The biggest and best athletes will want to play on the biggest stage! This will be something they will consider.

He knows this and apparently it is eating him up. His only option is to make silly statements to make people think this is a stupid idea. This in turn will make him feel better about himself.

LOL. No one has offered any rationale by which a coveted recruit would put any weight on this. Your standard 2 star in-state? Sure. But no one you need.

I'll say again. Fun for local fans? Sure. But after that it's meaningless.

Just remember that if you are sitting on the front row for the game at BMS in September, 2016, you will still be a considerable distance from the field of play. Kind of like trying to watch a game through the wrong end of a pair of binoculars!

its going to be a game to enjoy the atmosphere. the bottom levels will be fine, but upper levels will be watching the screens.

I think their list of priorities might be something like:

1) Get me in the NFL.
2) Get me in the NFL.
3) Get me in the NFL.
4) Good looking co-eds.
5) Get me in the NFL.
6) Get me in the NFL.
7) Get me in the NFL.
.
.
.
183) Spacious dorm rooms.
184) Get to play at Bristol.

Got 1-7 covered. Worry much? You are quite the chatter box 😜
