It's entitlement, the "click-instant gratification generation"

They don't want to wait, can't wait, think they're entitled to be respected when they've done nothing to be respected for.

9 & 2......I hate we lost a chance at a playoff, but I'm glad we had a chance at a ****ing playoff lol.

I’m not even sure that’s a lateral move. Trying to discredit CJH because a school isn’t pursuing him is a pretty piss poor argument.

Any courtship starts with behind the scene feelers. Someone reaches out to someone who is connected. Would Coach Smith be interested if State U came calling. I don’t sense that Heupel is the kind of guy that has one foot in and one foot out.

That’s like saying, if Saban is so good….. It’s just baseless speculation.

Everyone who can afford it asks Saban first. Failure to do so is not only lack of due diligence but the equivalent of malpractice by an AD.

I am not turning on coach Heupel at all! I love him, and believe he’s the best thing that’s happened to Tennessee football for decades!

Carolina game was a coaching/leadership failure period. Don’t confuse or conflate the two issues. Interview with player stating they expected Carolina to lay down is proof.
This sounds a like an excuse from someone who doesn’t understand leadership and to suggest honest criticism of the staff means we should stop watching sports is simply ignorant.
Good is the enemy of great.
A competitive loss is part of sports, no effort, no focus, no plan is avoidable and inexcusable.
20+ years leading in the military and multiple wars, 10 years successful youth multi sport coach.

Expectations also evolve, if I hire a new employee I’m not sure what their capability is initially. As they progress I may more accurately gauge progress and potential. Simply because our expectations were lower doesn’t excuse the Carolina game.

Not totally sure on how to answer, but I think it lies in how we lost to SC. Most people could accept going down with a tough fight and giving it their all. But we were never in the game much after the half. This tends to happen when hopes are dashed and we see a season tumble down. The GA loss was one thing and we were getting over it, but to be run out of SC on a rail hurt big time and someone is required to pay, even if it is with a tongue-lashing.

I am a UTM grad and a lifelong Vol fan at age 75...................I thank God for Josh Heupel and hope we have enough intelligent fans to get behind him ! Best football season I have had in many years and I hope Heupel is here when I am planted !!!

No Tennessee fan is turning on Heupel. Some band wagon people may be, but not Tennessee fans. I saw my first Tennessee game in 1945. Heupel fielded a team this year which was still short on talent and led it to an 8-0 record and ranked #1 in the Nation. His team has overachieved in every game except fro the train wreck at South Carolina. I am still not sure who sabotaged the team last week. I am sure that will be corrected and I believe it will be corrected this Saturday. If not, some players will be looking for a new place to play football. Vandy is an improving team and is now playing well. They have won 2 SEC games in a row and are believing they can win Saturday. It will not be as easy as it should be, but a solid team effort will win the game for the good guys.

No on is turning on Coach Heupel. He has brought us up from the depths of despair. Does he need to upgrade his defensive staff? Maybe but it’s ultimately his job to do. He is a smart guy and knows the talent better than us on that side of the ball. Anyone can see that he has gotten a lot out of the talent we had on the offensive side of the ball that he inherited. I think we are in good hands with Coach Heupel.

I also think we all know that Jeremy Banks has been a head case for as long as he has been on campus. Has he played good in stretches? Yes, but he has also cost us on more than one occasion. We don’t know what happened last week but we do know something happened for the team to play as bad as we did. It was disappointing but I am appreciative of what Coach Heupel has done in 2 short years. Go Vols beat Vandy, win on early signing day, win a good bowl game and ALL will be good.

After a loss, some of our posters lash out----probably because they lost money on the game and it makes them feel better about themselves-----just a guess :):)

This fanbase will turn on you, even the coach worshippers. It is a cycle. Coach announced...great support...not much progress...support lost. You can look back over Volnation for the past 3 hires and confirm this. This even happened with the Kiffin hire. These coach worshippers will act like they never liked your hire.
We have been rebuilding for over a decade and most fans are sick of it.
If this doesn't scare you off, you need to come in here and win. Make it happen. We don't need excuses or coach speak cliche lessons...we need to win...NOW. We must see you win at hiring a staff, recruiting, and most importantly ON THE FIELD. We are tired of being a joke and will accept nothing less.
