Dissing dooley has been a time-honored tradition on these boards for the past year, and rightfully so. But, now that he's been fired, the dooley folks (and others) have turned to attacking anyone who says anything bad about him. I for one personally moved on the second I heard he was fired, and have maybe left 1 negavol comment since. However, you can't be so naive as to think that no one is going to harbor resentment and/or residual animosity after this past season. Some folks literally seem to be getting self-satisfaction out of hammering anyone who says anything negative about dooley since the firing. I'm not going to name names, but I would be really surprised if I'm the only one who has noticed this (i'm sure ill get resistance on that part). Yes, I think dooley was a good guy who tried his best, but obviously that doesn't mean he was a good coach.

Dooley compared the Vols to the Nazi army.

Dooley told the whole world the team couldn't warsh.

In his last post-game presser he said Palardy failed to get his arm warmed-up for the fake punt and that's why it failed.

He's getting 5-miiiiilion dollars for his historic failure.

He is open game forever.

Why would he call a fake punt for a guy to throw the ball 20 yards when he can barely kick it that far is what don't make sense. That had to be the dumbest play call of his tenure.

It's like shooting extra bullets into a dead guy.

Time to move on

I think it's more of a class thing.
Exactly. Class, and I'll add maturity.

Edit: But to each his own. It's a free country and an internet message board. If kicking a guy that just lost his job gives you a rise, then do your thing bro. He tried his best, and his best wasn't good enough. I can't blame him for not trying.

There's no point in kicking a guy when he is down. He tried but wasn't able to accomplish what he wanted to so show some respect toward his family and lay off. Are we always successful at everything we do, probably not. I know he got $5 mil. but blame Hamilton for that.

You're right, the classy move would be to say little and move on.

People shouldn't attack Dooley now. We got what we wanted, so it is time to move on.

I don't hate him. I wish he had succeeded. He seems like an ok enough guy. Never bashed him. I am glad that we have moved on though. Even his dad knew he was going to get fired. Both are pretty classy dudes. wish him the best. Had he not hired sunseri, we would not have these threads going. That being said, we were still really close, even with no D. I know almost and close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. Man, good grief , why did he switch to a 3-4 this year. We could have won a lot of games

Dude, it gains nothing at this point. Dooley tried, but failed. He didn't create recruiting violations or messed around on his wife. He just couldn't win football games. He's done. While he coached he was fair game for us to talk about because the expectation was he needed to win. Mission failed and he is gone. Many of us are wanting to move forward to whomever is the next Coach. If you can't do that then perhaps you have a deeper problem.

How about if you see a thread that might be bashing Dooley, you dont click on it? Pretty easy.

Dooley is a Tennessee legend now.

The next time the team really stinks on the field, Vol fans everywhere will scan the sidelines, some with binoculars, and ask, "Did they let Dooley back in?"

For the next 50 years when the team melts down in the second half, Vol fans from Cape Hatteras to Los Angeles will say the Vols, "Did a Dooley."

If the vols seize defeat from the jaws of victory, Vol fans will moan, "That's some Dooley coaching there!"

We know he tried and failed. But now he is a Tennessee Legend. Everyone has to deal with that.

Edit: Soon Sal Sunseri will join him in Legendary status. We need a "Third and Chavis" equivalent for CSS.
