Why is this team so terrible from the three-point line?

to be blunt and get ridiculed for the troof, we need more white spot up shooters. Generally, white guys have more difficulty getting to the rim in aau, etc, so have to be better shooters and the better ones find ways to be sneaky and get in rhythm. You learn to stepback, move without the ball, etc because everyone else on the court can get to the rim except you. So you shoot. And you light people up.

Sorry to offend.

This is unbelievably stupid. We need shooters period. There are plenty of Black shooters. All our best shooters have been Black. Houston, Lofton etc.

He was actually a pretty good 3 point shooter. Just wasn't consistent was all.

Uhh...no, no he wasn't. He was one of the worst shooters we have had in a long time. Shoulder issues contributed to that, but his shot was bad, bad, bad.

I figured there was one of you out there that wouldn't be able to handle a basic observation about the general skill sets of black players vs white players, if there is even a white player on the team to compare in the first place.

I could give a flip as long as the ball goes in either. We need specialists, and long lanky dudes that can beat their man off the dribble and dunk on everybody aren't going to be a 3 pt specialist because they can do it all. The guy that is playing d1 ball and can't get a step on his man but can sit in one spot and knock it down from penetration or kickout is something we are badly missing. Role players. Not stars.

Not gonna weigh in on the white/black thing and I know most people dislike him but Marshall Henderson is a good example of this. Guy runs hard to get open, is always ready to shoot, can get the ball off from a variety of different body angles and has a lightning quick release. Average athletism at best, not all together there between the ears, but the kid is a shooter.

I've often wondered how good of a shooter he would be if he played for a good team with other options?

Better, same or possibly worse?

I am in the minority on Henderson I think. I love his game, how hard he competes and how much he wants to win. I think on a better team he would excel.

I respect all of that, I just don't like his mouth.

I understand and appreciate that. However, a lot of guys run their mouths. He has done a much better job getting it under control this year. Some guys just take longer to figure out how to act than others.

Yes. Henderson is a shooter, he's just not a maker. 36% on 3s shouldn't lead to the number of shots he takes. There are plenty of great shooters in the country. (Brady Heslip anyone.) Henderson isn't one of them.

This stat was taken from ESPN:

# of 3 pointers made: 154

# of 3 pointers attempted: 452

Ohio State is ranked 194th in 3 pointers made which is two positions higher than Tennessee is currently at. What happened to feeding the ball to the big guys?

That is hardly a 'UT problem'. It's a 'today's basketball' problem. There's a lot of guys taking 3's that shouldn't be and in only a few systems do you see guys working the ball in close to the bigs or running an offense. Watch enough NBA and you start to see out of control street ball which is what has ruined BB imo. Alley oop, 3 pt BS. With this roster I would be working the ball to Stokes and Maymon all day long. You take full advantage of having 2 6-9 260lb forwards.

What I like about Henderson is that somewhere along the way he learned to move without the ball. Watch him and he is constantly in motion. Lot harder to guard a guy who always is moving. Also wears the defender out. If our perimeter guys moved without the ball like him, this offense would be much more effective.

Um you are so wrong. Stokes now has a jumper and can go up with his left hand. He didn't have either when he stepped on campus

Yeah, I think he's okay at developing players. He can't develop a team to save his life, though. No sense of strategy or tactics.

That points to a career assistant vs. a head coach.

I agree cuonzo sucks, but to say stokes hasn't progressed on offense is absolutely ignorant

Stokes had a jumper as a freshman BTW

NBA scouts arnt dumb their is a reason they have told him he needed to work on his stroke. Just this year he has progressed shooting FTS and when SEC play started up this year he started to hit his jump shot consistently. The dude has progressed offensively and you saying he hasn't is asinine
