Being jealous and having a deep rooted disdain are two different things.

We are on track to isolate and ostracize ourselves from the world. That is a bad thing in a global economy. This ain't the 70's. We can't just say screw 'em anymore.

Restriction and government economic control is no way to compete seriously in a global market either.

I agree that between global demand, oil speculation, and the prolonged presence in the middle east certainly increases our fuel problems.

It's not that high, but it's higher than any other recipient of federal spending. In the range of about 23% of federal spending. Now, the war is inflating that right now, and there are accounting mechanisms to "count" that spending separately.

I haven't seen it reported that low anywhere. And yes, there are plenty of "creative accounting" practices in regards to hiding expenses.

I can't stand the old "rest of the world hates us" argument. Why do you hate someone that has no bearing on you. That is really not healthy.
