Why No O-Linemen Recruited Yet?????????

That's just not true though. We run with one TE and one RB a majority of the time. If you pay attention, any of the passes that aren't two step drops, we have at least one of those guys chip before running their route, if not stay in and block. That's the main reason Hurd saw so much playing time the first two weeks when Lane was averaging more YPC--because he's such a good pass blocker. Bajakian is using more than 5 guys to pass block on the large majority of the pass plays. The problem is that there always seems to be at least one guy who can't hold the rope.

Saying that we never use a TE or RB to help protect over and over won't make it true.

When did I say never? I counted one time tonight that the TE touched the DL on the right side. Maybe I missed some, but it was very rare.

Regardless of the extra help, it's just what you mentioned. It always seems someone messes up. That's a lack of experience, development, and chemistry. And that makes the trainwreck we keep having to watch.

I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm just saying that it's not the scheme to blame. It's an OL that, for whatever reason (coaching, experience, lack of talent, etc), cannot execute.

Maybe you should pay closer attention to Hurd on passing plays. If he's in, he's either blocking or being thrown the ball 75% of the time.

So O Coordinator stays and OL Coach goes Or wait another year and hope it gets better? I'm still not sold on our ability to gain commits from the best OL prospects, but will reserve judgement until signing day. And i think based on what butch is preaching, that's what he has to do, dispute how risky it will be. I'll feel a lot better if we get a commit from Richmond or sweet.

If it were up to me, I'd let Mahoney go and try to find a better OL coach within a week of the season ending. Mahoney isn't a great recruited and most of our OL are committed to Butch, not Mahoney.

Based on the play we saw from our running game in 2013 and the improvement see from all non- OL positions, I think firing Bajakian would be too much of a knee jerk. I think he's in a similar position to Jancek last year: his scheme can work, but he has a lack of talent at vital positions (mainly OT) that scheme can't overcome.

I will be very concerned if 2016 we dont fill our needs with top flight talent at OT and OL overall.
I think we are all forgetting that this staff hasnt been able to recruit these guys since they were Freshmen like most of the competition. That relationship seems to matter moreso with OL and even QBs than other positions. So this 2016 class will have known these coaches since their Soph. Year.
2017 will be the first class that this staff has had a full 4 years to go after these guys.
Just some thoughts. Somethings gotta give it hurts to watch this OL, hope we find a JUCO gem at the last minute.

Numbers lie all the time.

Driver a has had over 100 car wrecks, driver b has never had 1. Those numbers makes it seem like driver B is a much better driver. Driver A is Dale Earnhardt Jr and Driver B is a 5 year old.

In that comparison driver B IS the better driver.

Amiright?

Lol

What's anyones take on why we can't seem to recruit more Lineman? Obviously we have a huge need for them but we can't seem to get any to commit. 3 and one injured seems like a very low number to me

Don Mahoney is a Sun Belt offensive line coach. He can't recruit and he can't develop. Mack Crowder and Marcus Jackson looked better 2 years ago.

Give up 5 sacks against chattanooga ya pretty bad. I can see 1 maybe 2 against 2nd string

This must be some of these guys first year following college football recruiting.. Things will heat up once the high school season ends.. We'll lose a few gain a few, but in the end I trust cbj will come through ,he and everyone else knows next year its do or die..
