Why no one should worry about LSU

Tennessee is a lock for the playoff with an 11-1 record. Tennessee has been a lock for the playoff post Bama win where an 11-1 record was the floor for finishing the regular season.

Tennessee is going to the playoff. I've been very clear on this. USC has zero shot at the playoff without getting help from LSU dropping a game and TCU dropping a game.

Simple stuff. Not rocket science.
It is simple and that doest look good for you.

If Georgia, OSU, TCU and USC all win out that means they are all Conference Champions.

I believe that would be the committees dream situation. They might surprise me, and I say might because I don't like to be absolute about something I have no say or control in. For you to continue with your "absolute lock" and insulting everyone along the way shows more than ignorance.

Only reason you're not getting more crap than you are is because every single Tennessee fan that reads that "lock" stupidity, wants you to be right. If you get proven wrong, that means we didn't get in the playoffs and people gone be madder than a Keebler elf demoted to fudge packer and ready to take it out on you. Lucky for you I think one or both loses and we'll be fine.

All-SEC playoff. Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee. Mathematically? Probably still possible. Everyone wins out, LSU beats Georgia in Atlanta. Meanwhile:

Michigan loses to Illinois and Ohio State (10-2)
Ohio State loses to Maryland and Purdue/Illinois in Big 10 championship (11-2)
TCU loses to Baylor and Kansas State in Big 12 championship (10-2)
Utah loses to Oregon (9-3)
Oregon beats Utah, loses to Oregon State, plays in PAC12 championship against USC due to head to head with Utah and wins (10-3)
Southern Cal beats UCLA, loses to Notre Dame, then loses to Utah in PAC12 championship (10-3)
Clemson loses to Beamerball and to UNC in ACC championship (10-3)
UNC loses to NC State, beats Clemson in ACC championship (11-2)
Penn State loses to Michigan State (9-3)

I feel like even then it still wouldn't be allowed to happen. But they'd just have to come out and admit it's a popularity contest when it comes right down to it.

Edit: and in case there's any doubt, no I don't think in a million years that even a quarter of that's going to happen.

Man, you been hanging round Bama fans too much! šŸ˜‚

I live in Bama and some are still talking about how they can still win the national championshipā€¦Iā€™m like, ā€œYou can just claim a NC like you did with about a half-dozen of your previous ones.ā€

You wouldn't think so, but Lsu will be trying harder than uga, Ga knows they are in win or lose.
I think Georgia wants the SEC title this season regardless if they are already in I think Kirby will make it a priority to win it. Georgia is tied with us for SEC titles at 13 with LSU right behind with 12

A & M has a shot at LSU. I know they have major problems. Itā€™s at A&M next weekend. Remember how tough they played bama? Itā€™s not likely but I can see lsu getting upset. Not like they looked good against Arkansas

A&M Pplayed Bama close because Bama's backup Qb wasn't a solid passer and they could stack the box on him.

Bit different matchup with Daniels.

I'd be real curious to know how strong a jump USC would make if they beat UCLA, Notre Dame and Oregon/Utah. Pretty confident we don't get to find out, though.

I won't guarantee it, but I'd put money on them jumping us.

I agree, I don't think we find out. Hope we don't.

This is the correct way to think about this stuff. All the arguments claiming "facts" about how things will play out are nothing more than guesses. We don't know what the committee will do, but I do think they've given us a hint by having LSU (2-losses) ranked ahead of USC (1-loss) right now. It shows they they place a premium on strength of schedule. Because of this, I see no way that the loser of OSU/Michigan makes it in without some obvious bias from the committee. So in my mind, the loser of that game is out. I refuse to let conspiracy theories influence my expectations.

My biggest question is will they respect strength of schedule more than a conference championship from a weaker conference? The ACC is just too weak, IMO, but the PAC 12 (USC) makes me nervous. I wouldn't be shocked to see this thing finish 1. UGA 2. OSU/Mich 3. TCU 4. Tennessee but I also wouldn't be surprised if USC slides into the 4th spot with a conference championship... but again, if the committee would put USC ahead of us, why would they not already be ahead of LSU?
USC situation does scare me because if they do win out along with most of the others, except OSU/UM, they will have played 3 top 25 teams and a conference Championship. With only one loss coming to a top 25 team. The question is and always will be does SOS count more than Conference Championships in their opinion. With all the uncertainty until after the last few weeks the only thing for sure is we are in a prime spot.

If LSU jumps Tennessee for winning in Atlanta, that means head to heads don't matter. If head to heads don't matter, why is it certain UGA would get in over Tennessee.

You can't throw out head to heads in Tennessee at 11-1 and LSU at 11-2 and then use them in the case of 11-1 Tennessee and 12-1 UGA.....
The sec championship and beating no1 are the deciding factors.

The sec championship and beating no1 are the deciding factors.

IF that is your argument for LSU jumping Tennessee, you are disqualifying the head to head matchup. In that case, there is no way #5 LSU beating #1 Georgia would keep Georgia in the top 4 ranked ahead of us...... If #1 losing to #3 resulted in a 4 spot drop, #1 losing to #5 would result in a minimum of a 4 spot drop for Georgia... Since head to heads don't matter, Tennessee would move up in the rankings ahead of Georgia.

All of these posts trying to apply logic to this process are clearly being made by people are too young to have been around prior to the BCS-era. TV viewership (ad money) and conference politics will be bigger factors than logical analysis of who is most deserving. We should all brace ourselves for disappointment and just hope for the best.
I'm probably older than you and don't easily buy into conspiracy theories. I don't think the CFP committee gives a rats a$$ about TV viewership nor conference politics. They are tasked with putting the 4 most deserving teams in the CFP. I think the Vols are in if they win out convincingly because: (1) they have the best strength of schedule of the contenders. (2) they are the most exciting team in college football, (3) they are the cinderella story of the year (even better than Cincy was last year), and (4) the CFP committee seems to love them to have ranked them #1 before the UGA game and has them behind only undefeated teams. When Michigan loses to OSU, we'll see the Vols in the top 4. If TCU loses a game, the Vols will be #3.
