Why not us?

The Friday blind optimism threads have begun!

We have all gone from "we will lose by 21 points" to "WE WILL WIN!" in a matter of days. My realist side says we lose 35-21 but my optimist side says we win a thriller 31-28. Doubt the latter happens but I'm hoping for the best :)

1. We have a Senior and Junior laden offensive line all of whom have had years to jell together and years in our weight room. Oh, wait that's Oklahoma.

2. We have a Senior and Junior laden defensive line all of whom have had years to jell together and years in our weight room. Oh, wait that's Oklahoma.

3. Due to lack of attrition we hardly have to utilize any first year freshman or other first year players. Oh, wait, that's Oklahoma.

Yep, we gonna whip them.:shakehead:

Didn't we have the same thread last year on the Friday before Oregon

So what? It's fun to dream big. If it doesn't happen then it doesn't happen. It's not supposed to happen. So all of us who are sunshine pumpers will be a little disappointed and we'll get to next week and think we a can beat GA. There is nothing wrong with that. And if it does happen. Rock on!!! It must be weird to live life as a "realist". Never dreaming big because you're afraid of a letdown. I'm so sorry for all of the negavols. I've dreamed big with everything in my life and have succeeded on an incredible scale. Have I had disappointments? Yes. Have things went completely south and I've had to start from scratch? Oh yeah. But I keep thinking that I'll win every time I come up against a challenge. So that why we think the Vols will win whenever they come up against a challenge. Dream big, win big.

Back in my days at UT we LOVED to dream big. But back then we had a legitimate chance to win a NC every single year (until we lost to Florida).

Its not really fun to dream big today because you are exercising willful ignorance and just ignoring reality.

Win or lose tomorrow, I wont be disappointed

Well, these guys on ESPN were just laughing at us for thinking we had a chance! Ticks me off!

I agree.

Next year.

I just can't get around their Dline matched up against our offensive line and realistically pick us to win. Everywhere else I think we match up ok but they will probably be able to rush four and get pressure on Worley from what I've seen so far. Oline has to play out of their minds and Worley has to get rid of the ball earlier while still making good decisions. I would give OU the nod on special teams as well from what I've seen BUT it's hard to tell there as both of us really haven't played a tough opponent.

We'll to me it's pretty simple... The O line will step up and play a good game.

I love the optimism but the issue with Team 118 is lack of experience, especially along the lines. In many one on one match-ups we will have an 18 year old kid going up against a 22 year old man.

I'm hoping to see us put on a good show but I won't be surprised if we get beat by a 4-5 TDs. Just don't see us ready... but I'm not starting threads on the subject.

To me it's pretty simple if a bunch of kids can go into Norman and snatch a win out of there, why can't we win them all? I don't see us ready for that level yet but I'm hoping against all hopes that these kids go in there and get a win.

I'd be careful with some of those 2013 Florida season gifs.

Nathan Peterman is bound to show up somewhere in there.

Peterman had a broken hand.. was your D lineman born blind or was it something chronic that came out of nowhere?

:)

No on both your points. And you won't be disappointed because you don't put your heart into it. There is nothing wrong with disappointment. It means you are dreaming big. Not everything works out. I guess you don't try risky investments or try talking to the hottie that is a 11 out of 10 that no one else is talking to because you "won't be disappointed." I on the other hand, will be the first to go up and talk with that girl. Or after doing my due diligence, making the risky career move or risky investment. Do they always work out? No. But sheesh. It sure beats living my life as a "realist". :hi:

Does anyone know what the point spread was in the 1986 Sugar Bowl against Miami? I'm just curious.
