No on both your points. And you won't be disappointed because you don't put your heart into it. There is nothing wrong with disappointment. It means you are dreaming big. Not everything works out. I guess you don't try risky investments or try talking to the hottie that is a 11 out of 10 that no one else is talking to because you "won't be disappointed." I on the other hand, will be the first to go up and talk with that girl. Or after doing my due diligence, making the risky career move or risky investment. Do they always work out? No. But sheesh. It sure beats living my life as a "realist". :hi:

Ignorance is bliss. I thought of that with my heart. :eek:lol:

Auburn and Miami were wins during the 1985 season. Tennessee had an SEC championship season.

In 1991, Tennessee was ranked #13 going to Notre Dame.

At least pick an upset that can somewhat compare to the circumstances occurring this Saturday.

How bout the '82 Alabama game? Alabama ranked #2, TN still on the rebuild process. TN 35 Ala. 28 Go Vols!

"No Way the vols can beat #1 ranked Auburn with Bo Jackson"

Vols 38
Auburn 20

"The vols can't win against #5 Notre Dame after being down 24 points"

Vols 35
Notre Dame 34

"#1 Miami will crush the Vols on their way to the national title"

Vols 35
Miami 7

"The vols don't have a chance at #3 Oklahoma with all the youth and inexperience"

Vols 28
Oklahoma 24

Go Vols!!

Don't forget the 1989 upset over # 6 UCLA at the Rose Bowl. We won 24-6, and yes for all of you NegaVols out there who say a road win over a highly ranked team by an unranked team such as us is impossible, that win by unranked Tennessee was a true road win. We were coming off a very disappointing 5-6 season the year prio,r and our opening game was a very uninspiring 17-14 win over a not so great Colorado State team. None of the "realists" were giving us a chance. Yet we dominated the highly ranked Bruins. I fondly recall a Freshman running back by the name of Chuck Webb having a break out game against the highly ranked Bruins. Can history repeat itself? I believe:)

I think the 1989 UCLA game is actually quite analogous. We were playing UCLA on the road; we were coming off a 5-6 season; we won our opener in an unimpressive fashion against Colorado State; none of the "realists" were giving us a chance; UCLA was ranked # 6 in the nation while we were unranked; we had a very talented Freshman running back on the roster who had a break out game; and we whooped their ASS! Go Vols!

The only difference this time is that Stoops is not sleeping on us. He wants to make a statement that he can hang with the S.E.C.
We won't sneak up on them.

Our best chance to win is (1) for us to score on the kick off return (2) Hold Oklahomo to 3 and out (3) Score again, while killing the clock.

Now we have a 14 point lead and maybe we can keep pace with their offense.

I really don't think winning a game against a team that has had four straight losing seasons is making that strong of a statement, no matter the score.

That's what I want to see. A comparable upset. The only ones I've thought of that were somewhat similar are UCLA in 1989 or Bama in 1982. Give me others. Give me hope.
