Why QB play will be good.

More talented or as talented as the following teams

Utah st.
Chatt
Ark st
Vandy
UK
Mizzou
Ole miss

Enough talent to beat the following teams IF we play great

USC
UGA
OU
UF

UF is a near lock as a win I might add, we will pins them at Neyland.

UF is anything but a lock.

They didn't look talented last year. I am honestly not sure how the teams will compare this fall. IMHO, the trajectory of the two programs is near opposite with Jones vs Muschamp.

I think the OC argument is an interesting one. Roper as far as I know has coached under Cut in all of his significant jobs. Cut we all know is a very good offensive coach. So how much of Roper's success as OC at Duke was him and how much Cut? Does he have the personal leadership ability to correct the internal problems in his group?

That is a good question sjt18. For all we know, Roper could turn out to be like UF's previous OC Brent Pease who was under the wing of Chris Petersen at Boise State.

I agree, there is no replacement for the continuity that the offense got to experience in the off season.

as the ball is snapped from the Center it will be more consistent and will have at least 1/4 second increased speed - timing will improve, plays will unfold faster. Centers make a difference in QB play. This year will be improved.

Yep...Roper coaching under Cut is interesting. We will see how it works out. Dooley worked under Saban for 7 yrs if I recall, and we saw how that worked out.

Good points. My thought in listing a new OC as a positive for Florida had more do with them replacing the horrible one from last year...nowhere to go but up IMO.

Plus, as you've said, it's Curt Roper who's been learning at the knee of Cutcliffe for a couple decades. I've heard Ainge speak very highly of him in terms his command and presence and if he's been around Cut for his whole career he's bound to know a thing or 2 about scheming and organizing an offense.

Bottom line....addition by subtraction by replacing Brent Pease....kinda like us last year when Sunseri was no longer our DC....no way we couldn't have been better, to whatever degree.

Also, I do think they look talented before all the injuries decimated their roster. They sure looked talented when they easily handled UT.

Florida has better players than Tennessee across the roster. They just had some injuries and weren't coached very well last season.

Worley will be the starter. I don't know why this is question.

Dobbs will get a ton of reps and will probably get a start or two. He deserves it and will be the returning senior Qb in 2015. Senior as in playing time, not class....

We will have an epic Qb battle going into 2015 and I'm excited for it.

Well, the question is; he hasn't won it yet. Dobbs will get the ton of reps, because he is the likely starter. Bottom line; he just fits Butch's style of play better and has matured physically since he last hit the field. What has happened on VN, is that all those Ferguson supporters were not satisfied with their beatdown after their hero showed his true colors and are now begging for more ( "Thank you sir. May I have another?)

We could be headed for a serious "catch 22" with the QB situation. Lets say Worley is the clear winner in the QB battle and starts every game this year.

He doesn't get injured and plays almost every snap because all of our games are close.
He graduates this year and we have to start all over again next year with the unproven QB questions.

Are we better off with this scenario or should we develop our young QB, Dobbs or Peterman, this year?

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in the QB meetings :):):)

Play to win right now. After 4 consecutive losing seasons this program is starving for some positivity. You're lying to yourself if you don't believe we are in need of damage control right now. 6 wins plus a bowl win wouldn't extinguish the negative fire of the program right now, but it would certainly stop it from spreading any further for the moment.

I've never been a Ferguson supporter any more than a supporter of any of the rest. I like Dobbs game better than the rest. Every indication is that Worley is the starter and without Ferguson... it wouldn't have been particularly close in the Spring. By the O&W game, virtually everyone close to the program was reporting that Worley and Ferguson were splitting the 1st team reps.

Worley will be the starter this year! Dobbs would have to have a remarkable preseason. For Those that say Worley can't throw the ball good enough: watch the TD pass to Croom from the Oregon game Or the pass to Josh Smith in the South Alabama game or the throw to North in The Georgia game. His problem is when he is not confident then he is not consistent.

How would the other qbs be unproven?

1. Peterman and Dobbs already know the offense.

2. Dobbs did start the last several games last year, so he's got experience.

Agree with your first "as talented as" list. But tell me again how UF, a program that's beaten UT 16 of the last 20 times, including the last 9 in a row, is a "near lock win"?

i believe your little quote is call HISTORY :rock::rock::rock::rock:

Jones may play both Worley and Dobb's.
Worley is probably our best shot as far "starter" goes, but Jones may opt to put Dobb's in the rotation in certain packages in matchups. I doubt it will happen...but who knows?
It may be effective.

Until the OL gels, it's going to go to who thinks faster, can run away from trouble, can hit quick slants and screens and arch intuitive fades and make draw plays work. CBJ's getting ready for the RUSH. I think Worley will start until Dobbs gets it down, unless Justin can make some quick yardage on the ground.

Spring practice came and went with no QB taking the lead. I think we have average QB at best.

I bet bUTch already knows who the starter will likely be. He hasn't announced it yet. This way it is percieved that the competition is still going on even during practice in August.

Had he announced that Worley were the starter then it is likely that Peterman & Dobbs will give less effort than 100%.

Give them the percieved notion that they can be the starter, even though it is not true.

With our receiving corps, we need the q.b. who can best get the ball down the field and to the open receiver. What is the purpose of having all of these receivers if no one can get the ball to them, so they can make plays?

I luv Worley. He makes zero mistakes and made outstanding strong throws last season until he BROKE HIS HAND. Goofballs.

Why? You hope that Worley isn't good this fall or you hope that Jones doesn't continue to want his QB's to compete?

I want someone to step up and be a leader. I don't want anyone to have to ask who the leader is going to be. There is no replacement for a good two or three year starting QB IMO.
