Never write the kids off - they are tough and talentedWhat would you have said if Mashack missed that shot?
On the road, senior night - don’t tread too far on that limb with that prediction.
Statistically, 2 seeds are just as likely to make the Final Four as 1 seeds. Try not to write off the kids you love so much too early.
Which coaches are clearly better than Barnes? Once you get your list, are they realistic? Phil Jackson, for example, isn’t coming to coach here.Revived this post of mine from several weeks ago. Coach Barnes just is not capable of getting us to the Summit. Think about it. In the Bama game, you can see him calling a TIME OUT with one second left as Jamal is crossing half court. What a bone headed (potential) call! Thank goodness one of the players took control. And losing to Ole Miss last night was soooooo predictable, as Coach Barnes cannot cross over the mountain top. I bet against us winning - easy money, but I would give every penny back to get the #1 seed, make it to the Final 4 and plant the UT flag on top of Ol rocky Top! Love the kids and admire their efforts, but we need a leader that gets us a Natty.

I agree with your general thoughts but 2 seeds aren’t close to 1 seeds when it comes to making Final 4s. It’s a huge difference. What would you have said if Mashack missed that shot?

Were you and other people not acting like the season was over with the “Barnes will never get them there” “this team won’t make a run”, etc etc takes? Yes, you/ they were. You were acting like we got bounced from the tournament. Making a statement that Barnes won’t take is there and we need a leader who will, after a regular season loss to a fringe top 25 team on the road certainly indicates you’ve already pulled the plug on the season/team.Mis read
Sorry = let me clarify. Coach Barnes can get us to the dance. Were you and other people not acting like the season was over with the “Barnes will never get them there” “this team won’t make a run”, etc etc takes? Clearly not Pearl, who already failed at Tennessee, and couldn't do what Barnes did this season. That road loss at A&M tells you everything you need to know about a Pearl team: willing to get outworked on the boards by a team with inferior talent that can't shoot.Which coaches are clearly better than Barnes? Once you get your list, are they realistic? Phil Jackson, for example, isn’t coming to coach here.
Sorry, that probably came across as snarky and that wasn’t my intent. I’m seriously curious who you think would be better. I agree with you though that if anyone can find that person, I like our chances with Danny at the helm.Yo, didn't indicate that I have one but, would bet big money on Danny having someone special in the wings!!
I agree Pearl isn’t better but Pearl is a fantastic coach. I don’t understand why a lot of our fans can’t respect both Pearl and Barnes, it doesn’t have to be either/or. Pearl did amazing things here and I’d take him back for sure after Barnes retires. On the other hand, I wouldn’t trade Barnes for Pearl.Clearly not Pearl, who already failed at Tennessee, and couldn't do what Barnes did this season. Barnes is clearly better in my opinion but didn't we do exactly the same thing at Ole Miss Wednesday night?Clearly not Pearl, who already failed at Tennessee, and couldn't do what Barnes did this season. Clearly after putting in all that effort Pearl has prepared his team to lose in the end like they always do. If you can't beat an 8 seed on the road, you can't beat an 8 seed on the tournament. The sooner everybody admits that the sooner they can move on.Barnes is clearly better in my opinion but didn't we do exactly the same thing at Ole Miss Wednesday night?
You could be trolling but I don't have Auburn winning a Natty this year. I definitely think they make it further than they did last year, tho.Clearly after putting in all that effort Pearl has prepared his team to lose in the end like they always do. Based on the metrics, a Duke-Auburn national title game would be expected, but as we know the top two teams rarely make it that far to face one another. UConn-Purdue last year was an anomaly, as was Gonzaga-Baylor in 2021.You could be trolling but I don't have Auburn winning a Natty this year. I agree it's not likely to be #1 vs #1.Based on the metrics, a Duke-Auburn national title game would be expected, but as we know the top two teams rarely make it that far to face one another. UConn-Purdue last year was an anomaly, as was Gonzaga-Baylor in 2021.
In the last ten tournaments, 7 #1 seeds have won the title. UConn (2014, 2023) and Villanova (2016) were the exceptions.I agree it's not likely to be #1 vs #1.
It does kinda suck we a #2 seed now, tho.
In the last 10 years a #1 seed has won the Championship 6 times and a #2 seed only once.
Based on that, odds of us potentially winning just went from 60% to 10 %.
Actually, probably not those exact odds since their are 4 #1 seeds but you get the jist of it.
