Why the Heisman Trophy is Horse----

 Sounds like me and my friends old jokings of Barry Sanders' on-field heroism...

He ran for 832 yards in one play!

Same story, different players depending on which region you're in. Marcus Allen doing that at USC is also a popular piece of lore.

Exactly who should have won instead of Flutie and George?

Had the Heisman been awarded after the Bowl games, there's no way George gets it. I was at the Citrus Bowl the year George won it and the Vols ate his lunch. I made it home the next day (night) in time to watch Nebraska and Florida for the NC. I think Frazier vindicated himself well. I never saw one man completely dominate a powerful opponent like he did. I taped that game and I still watch it occasionally just to see that touchdown run where he broke 12 tackles.
Yes, as well as a Vol fan, I was a Tommie Frazier fan too.

Well, if a subpar game in a loss to a quality opponent disqualifies you, the voters in '97 were even more justified in their selection.

True. If the voting had been after the bowl, it wouldn't have been as close as it was.

I agree with the '97 decision...but Tommie Frazier was a better player whether George plays in the Citrus Bowl or not.
