We know that Republican so-called fiscal conservatives are only fiscally conservative when a Democrat occupies the White House. When we have Republican Presidents, letting the contracts and writing the checks, they go wild spending money like there is no tomorrow. This is not a personal attack, just an observation of the historical record.

And an important observation to make, as the blank checks for business and military are about to turn into weeping and wailing that programs or tax dollars have been paid into that benefit us need to go away because the business investments didn't pan out into more revenue for the government or benefits/pay for us.

The fiscally gop died with Bush. The spending will never stop. When harris raises taxes, the spending will increase. Id rather have more of my money with increase spending than less of my money with increased spending.

I believe the record shows that the huge, deficit spending of Republicans started with Reagan. As for your money, unless you are in the top bracket for income taxes, your money will be unaffected or little affected by Democratic tax policies. Trump actually raised income taxes on the middle class, but the increases were deferred to 2021. He also raised taxes on imports(tariffs) which means you pay more.

That's why I left the Republican party upon retiring from the Air Force. For the most part, I was apolitical during my service, although I voted for Reagan in 84, HW Bush in 88 and 92

Carter was fiscally conservative. Reagan was not. His 1983 recession was considered at the time to be the worst since WWII. The Republican mantra of balancing the budget while cutting taxes and increasing defense spending was bold-faced hypocrisy. Reagan's supply side, "voodoo economics," began a long transfer of money from the middle class to the wealthiest top one percent which continues to this day. Those are economic facts. Reagan's successor, Bush 41, was left to face its consequences. You can argue that Reagan's defense spending was necessary, but it is simply wrong to argue that his economic and tax policies created sustainable growth with middle class prosperity.
