Wiedmer: Could ex-Vol Ferguson return to UT?

And that team put up much better offensive numbers than we are now. People act like Bray was bad when he was here, but our offense was light out.

Lights out against lesser teams... Lights went out against better teams. Same complaints we get against this version...minus wins against South Carolina and Georgia.

LOL 44 points against UGA (the most they allowed all season was 24), 31 against MSU (most allowed by MSU that entire year), 35 against a MUCH better usc team that had their best defense ever and didn't allow more than 23 that entire year, 48 against Mizzou that had one of their best defenses ever and hadn't allowed more than 20 points all year.

13 against Bama compared to 14 this year, despite our defense giving our offense this year a LOT more chances this year. 20 against UF compared to 27 this year.

Yards piled up mostly after outcome was decided and pity TDs look great on paper...we've always competed with Georgia and SC...the litmus tests have always been Bama and Florida. When's the latest a Chaney offense has led one of those...in a game?

You're just saying stuff and hoping it's true at this point. We were in every one of those games. Had MSU Mizzou usc and UGA won or were one score away in the 4th quarter until defense collapsed.

No hope...that's what I remember...every agonizing second of every potential game winning drive. Our offense set records against Troy...against Georgia and SC you knew Chaney would go full passing tunnel vision and abandon the running game...which he never developed. If Bray became aware that we needed a certain amount of yards, he'd garner just short...all true...we sucked.

You've gotta be the only person who would say even though an offense put up more points than any other opponent by double digits on four separate teams, they weren't any good.

Yeah...just me...empty big stats.

LOL OK man, the offense puts up more points than anyone by double digits against 4 separate teams, despite having a historically bad defense rarely getting them the ball back. If that's not good enough for you to consider them good, then that's your prerogative.

Thank you...I was worried about you OKing it. :hi:

None of those stats came in garbage time. None of those games had garbage time, they all came down to the wire because our defense was the worst in history.

Vandy game? :eek:hmy:

The one where Dobbs got us 10 points?

You look at the body of work, Bray lit up defenses. The team collapsed at the end of the year and sucked against Vandy. You want to pull isolated stats out of the air to prove your point, fine. I'd take that offense over this one any day. With our current defense, we'd be undefeated and easily going to the playoffs.

Thought Dobbs was a senior in high school that game? My bad. Only good thing about having that offense this year is that we wouldn't have to hear complaints about blown leads...wouldn't have em! :w00t:
