Wiedmer: Could ex-Vol Ferguson return to UT?

He'd still be on the bench behind Dobbs if he stayed. Our current scheme and young offensive blocking line needed a running QB like Dobbs. Good for him for putting up the numbers that he is though.

The blocking is greatly improved. He is mobile enough... and he gets the ball out quick.

If his head is straight then I'd take a shot at him. UT needs someone who can get the ball out to playmakers. I love Dobbs but he has not done a great job of that.

We have to mark this down as another one of CBJ's failures to let a QB this good slip away from his program.

No. Just NO. You be trippin' Doc. Slip away? Fergie left because he was cocky and wasn't handed the starting QB job. He chose to leave, we didn't let him slip away. You can't put his immaturity on CBJ.

Dormady,Sheriron,JG,Hunter and prolly Trevor. Bet we get a pass completed out of that mess. :wink2:

We don't have to do anything. You can do whatever you would like. Even then it would be ignorance on your end when Riley himself admitted he is the reason he is no longer at Tennessee.

Hahaha! He is the exact type of attitude CBJ has been forcing out of the program. The culture change included, among other things, getting rid of entitlement attitudes. Players more about 'me' than the team. Now has that attitude changed for him? No idea. But when he left the program that was the underlying cause. It was not a mistake by CBJ to lose him the first time.

Look at the competition he's playing. Dobbs is going against SEC teams every week, and he has pretty good numbers himself.

Talent was never RF's problem. It was attitude.. He SHOULD be lighting it up at the JUCO level..

Why did you bring Dobbs into this when I was responding to a stupid bartending crack..

Chances are he would ride the pine again until Dobb's leaves after next year and if he had any eligibility left he would have to beat out Dormady or Jones who are not slouches either.

It's up to Butch. If it were to happen, and RF set the world on fire, he gets the credit. And if he brought him back and RF became a cancer, he takes the heat.

Looking at his numbers, you may be bartending before he does...

LOL those aren't any better than Brent Schaeffer's or Bo Wallace's in JuCo. Matt Simms put up pretty impressive numbers too in JuCo.

I think people got a soft spot for Nathan Peterman because they felt he never really fit our system (after Jones arrived). Good kid in wrong system - people naturally want to see him do well. With Riley I think it's like a "hey look what could've been" thing because he was originally ahead of Dobbs then all of a sudden nosedived into the Atlantic and was never heard from again...until now

Peterman situation is totally different. He was a 5* star kid off the field like Dobbs. He just wanted an opportunity to compete for a job and knew the only way he would get that shot here was if Dobbs went down. To be honest, the kid needed a fresh start after the rough outings he had here.

83% completion rate is tough in practice. Ferguson must be the only kid on the planet that wasn't mature enough for college when he got here after 5 or 6 years of everybody blowing sunshine up his shorts. Good for him that he figured it out before he was 40 years old.

You only take Fergy if Dormady transfers or if JG doesn't sign with UT

No. He left even when his own father told him it was a mistake. Best of luck to him ......somewhere else, not named UT.
