Wiedmer: Could ex-Vol Ferguson return to UT?

I don't think Butch has said to any player yes your position is secure. If that is the case, I would give Riley another chance to prove himself.

Interesting. This kid sounds like he has grown up a lot since he left UT.

If I were UT, I would offer him a scholarship for no other reason than keeping the other SEC teams form getting him!

I'm glad you're not an academic institution. :)

Kid would have been great here, just chose to run with the wrong people in the program while he was here.

my opinion is that we are 1 injury away from starting Dormady and heading into a critical time of the year, the schedule favors UT finally -- but we need an SEC QB to get it done. If, god forbid, something happens to Dobbs, we'll need backups -- i WISH we had Riley here, he WOULD have been a solid clipboard carrier, VFL to help us thru this stretch. I know that he was cocky and left, but just like the Prodigal son... I WOULD WELCOME HIM BACK NEXT YEAR WITH OPEN ARMS. IMHO.

We can always use good walk ons.

I don't think he would be walking on anywhere. Arky, USCe, Georgia, Bamer, Miss St, maybe Mizzu, Candy, would all give him a look. QB play across this confrence is way down this year and looks to have a lot of young guys next year. We could very well face him in a game next year.

We won't need him next year. We will have 3 QBs that have went through the program at least one year and probably the best fit for this system as a freshman. We needed him when he bailed. And your right, we could have used him this year, but he is the one that left us in the predicament.

He's got great talent just doesn't have it between the ears

plus he's an early enrollee and most of those schools already have their QB for 2016...dont see Pinkel gambling on him either

It's hard to see this happening given our current commitments, but his father's comments are intriguing. I think he'll end up somewhere in the SEC next year.

When a 6-4 quarterback with a howitzer for an arm starts putting up numbers like Ferguson's, the recruiting distractions will come soon enough for a player with two years of eligibility left. And far-fetched though it may seem, at least one member of Riley's family isn't ready to rule out a possible return to the Big Orange.

"If Coach Jones called," Don said, "I think he'd go back there."

FWIW, Ferguson is putting up mind-boggling numbers this season. After throwing for 480 yards & 6 TDs against No. 3 Butler today, he's completed 93 of 136 passes for 1269 yards & 16 TDs with no INTs in his last 3 games.

Jones ain't calling. Kid pouted and then quit. Adios son, your future doesn't involve a Power T.

LOL. Why? Because he has done great in JUCO? Get real man. Dobbs>>>>>>Ferguson.

Ferguson throws the ball much, much better than Dobbs does, has or ever will. But a lot more goes into playing SEC QB than that.....Riley can pound sand. Dobbs is our guy until/unless Dormady, Jones or JG overtakes him next year which is a longshot to say the least.

We've already seen a rocket arm with a ****ty Attitude aka Tyler Bray. No thanks I'll take Dobbs all day every day.
