Wilcox

Hey guys stuck in Europe for the holidays and the first time reading VN since Friday. Can anyone give me some insight on what is going on because reading all these articles it sounds like the sky is falling and Wilcox is gone. TIA GBO!

Yeah I just saw this about an hour and a half ago. From what I've gathered both Texas and Cal's rival's sites have talked about it. The rumor is that he was asked to visit Texas today but WBIR said he was here this morning and evening in the football complex. So who knows?!

No I completely agree. It is an EASIER job but that doesn't mean it's a different position all together. You can also add the fact that they play in the Big 12 (easier schedule, no championship game). It's still a lateral move and it's not necessarily good for our program unless Dooley thinks we can do better.

Well we agree on that. I guess I just think that losing a coach is harmful regardless. I don't see that losing one to a lateral position makes the loss any more or less detrimental.

I'm not sure that I can think of why the reason a coach left would make a difference in how harmful it is. I just think that it can reflect poorly on our program in that it makes it look like this is a 2nd tier job or less desirable all together. I think ultimately it comes down to hiring skills. When your hiring for any position in any business you want someone who is ambitious but you also need to hire the right fit for the location. Someone who likes the area, fits well, and is up for the challenge seeing that it is in fact, a challenging conference.

Let's hope not

I'll take Chavis over Wilcox everyday, Chavis may be large and polarizing but he does know how to stop a team on 3rd down. Hell he's a great DC whether you want to admit it or not.

I see wilcox to texas as a gamble for both sides.....texas will get an promising but unproven dc that could end up a bust......wilcox could go down with brown's ship....

Don't see Wilcox leaving for the Texas BBQ. He's a young coach who'd been given a great opportunity at Tennessee & it could be professional suicide if he bolts after one year on the job...sorta like Malzahn staying at Auburn for another year or two rather than board a sinking rat-ship at vandie.

Ya'll sound like a bunch of old women at a quilting bee. No one is going anywhere, at least until he says I'm going to Texas. Comon quit *****ing and whining. Act like men and you got a pair that anit in your wife's purse.

I didnt know we had so many fortune tellers with crystal balls.

No joke! ^

Besides can anyone on here really say they wouldn't take the DC job at Texas??? Look at the situation....let's say he goes to Texas, the last DC was made head coach in waiting and at this point the "waiting" at Texas is becoming shorter...here he is probably as promoted as he will ever get besides an "assitant head coach" title he could be given at Tennessee.

Can't blame the guy if he goes?
