Will some current Commits be politely told to move on

I know this sounds horrible thing to do but with all the momentum and wins, will some of the lower ranked commits be told to look around ? It is early enough where they can find a new home. Not sure if or who those will be but our class does have a lot of 'low ranked' commits for a potential 11-1 team. Obviously star rankings are not only barometer staff uses but I would still think some of the highlighted ones will be told to move on.

Your thoughts ?

To single out the 3 star rated players you have circled and just assume that the 4 star rated players will perform better based off of rankings assigned by people who often don't know how to evaluate players/talent seems unfair.

I trust the staff knows what they are doing, has an eye for talent and ability to develop players.

We the staff recruit over some players if they can? Sure, I'm sure they all do that. Tennessee has had their fair share of 5 star type players that ended up not living up to the hype and they've had many 3 star rated players that turned into some of the best players ever on the hill.

Much ado about nothing.
I will fully admit by this point that Heupel's system requires a specific type of player. Fast, elusive, open field ability, etc.

Speed is the one thing you cannot teach.

I trust that Heupel knows what he is doing and believes they can be coached up. Hard to argue with results.

(Do you have any clue how weird it felt to write that last paragraph after the last 15 years)

There's a couple in that highlighted area that will stick around - I would think Umarov, Bussell, and Leacock for sure.
Elarbee was really high on the two OL and Golesh was big on Leacock.
Spillman's another that likely stays as he is very fast...like Squirrel White fast.

Unfortunately, the rest is a mixed bag and like you said some of them will be asked to look around or possibly consider a walk-on role.
This situation becomes even more critical if either UT or the NCAA hand down further scholarship reductions.
I've learned that when a coach really likes a lineman, especially an offensive lineman, recruiting rankings can be ignored.

Most of those guys are very good and obviously underrated.
Umarov, Leacock, Lutrell, Spillman, Slaughter, Telander. . . I know these guys are a lot better than their rankings. Leacock outperformed most 5 stars this season and most of these players outperformed the majority of 4*s.

I'm not a "diamond in the rough" or "hidden gem" guy, but these players definitely need to be kept in the class.

The only real movement you'll see will probably come from players who have underperformed in the classroom or in the community (social & disciplinary troubles) and potentially on the field.

No…
Because coaches look at more than stars.

It is hard to evaluate 110,000 athletes and get it right. Recruiting services are luck to evaluate 2500 to 5000 and aren't always right. Trust the Coaches.

Maybe a couple but this seasons success will have a greater impact on the 24 and 25 classes. As the 23 class was heavily already filled by the time the season started.

One of your circled players is 247 #94 player for 2023. I’m thinking we may give him a look

Isn't the 25 player per class limit lifted and is now based on available scholarships?

"The NCAA announced May 18 that a rule limiting Division I teams to 25 recruits per signing class will be suspended for the next two academic years. Teams, however, will still be capped at 85 scholarship players at Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools and 63 at Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) schools."

Yes. But the 85 limit is still active.

I sincerely hope not. I think our staff identifies "their guys" and says to hell with the consensus. Besides, I'd rather have 3 star guys who have wanted to be here (all in) for months rather than guys who are chasing the new shiny thing. Loyalty is a two-way street.

Let's not forget that Cedric Tillman was rated a 2 star by Rivals and 3 star by 24/7 when he was recruited. We have coaches for these guys.

If you bought in before the hype and committed your future to the cause- you’re in. I don’t care who else wants to commit on top of you. You get a chance to earn the starting spot.

Commitment. Integrity. Honor. Without it…what’s the point?

In basketball, you can't teach 'tall'
