How can so many posters know so little about the processes at major Universities. It is not even close to being similar to those self owned businesses which can call up old Joe and get what he wants, especially when no one else wants what you want. Apparently, you do not realize that Pruitt and Fulmer want to hire the best OC available who meets the criteria which has been established by the NCAA, SEC and University of Tennessee. People with responsibilities at the level of UT can not make knee jerk decisions without proper vetting. I trust AD Fulmer and Coach Pruitt because their futures also depend on their decisions. Maybe a little less negative posting might help in the long run. U know that will be difficult for some/most of you but you might want to give it a try for the good of the University and our football program.

They are looking for someone compatible to butch jones. If pruitt turns down freeze because of jealousy, he had better hope his 2nd year offense looks a whole lot better than this past season or it will be hot seat city for him.
That makes no sense on several levels.

The hope I’m clinging on is I know Fulmer won’t put up with BOT blocking a hire if him and Pruitt want it. He’s already threatened to cut off donations if so; along with Pruitt a no nonsense type of coach there is a ch ace we get Freeze.

Are you serious? Hmm...I wonder why people would ask such questions? Have you been hiding under a rock the past several years? So this is all about vetting, I see. Let me ask you a question that’s not a rhetorical one because on one hand, it sounds like you are saying its up to Pruitt and Fulmer but then you say, “It is not even close to being similar to those self owned businesses which can call up old Joe and get what he wants, especially when no one else wants what you want.” Who is the no one else in this scenario? And is it fair based on the past debacles at the university for people to question how things are being handled? If it weren’t for the fans raising their voices and using the vehicle of free speech, we would have a much different environment, one far worse, than we have currently.

How do you know Fulmer has threatened to cut off donations? Rumors?

UT admin wants desperately to beat Vanderbilt, but knows it will take a few years to compete with Vandy:)

I believe the administration (outside the Athletic Department) has been far too involved in the hiring process for far too long. They are administrators, not coaching talent evaluators. If you trust a man enough to be the AD, you should give him the authority and autonomy to hire who he wants to. This hire should be completely on CJP and AD Fulmer.

The Administration holds back the Freeze Hire due to his NCAA sanctions at Ole Miss?

Should Pruitt continue to push for Freeze or should he go with his back up plan? If he has one that is.

I think Fulmer supports Pruitt enough to let him hire who he feels comfortable with running his offense.

This hire could really determine Pruitt’s future as UT’s coach so it has to be a big name guy if he wants job security.

Fire the Administration

Pruitt then becomes a lame duck coach without the support of the administration to do what needs to be done

What if none of this is true?

I think that Freeze may be slow playing this to see what options are on the table. Things are completely different today than they were yesterday and there will be more options available for Freeze tomorrow. If you do not think that Jimmy Sexton would screw UT then you need to grow up. It has happened too many times.

My question is what evidence that UT administration or AD is complicating the matter? I have asked several times and people just push their opinion and show no facts. I am very willing to listen to any facts that the administration or AD is messing things up.

Yeah we should fire a university administrator if they block a hire for an assistant in the athletics department.

You should make sure you use the blue font more

Good offensive coordinators are hard to find.

My dog could be an university administrator.

I offered to do the job for as little as $10M and they said i was worth more. But i thought it best to not take advantage of UT at this point. Plus they didnt offer free Taco Bell for lunch everyday.

If they start meddling and we don't hire someone good (doesnt have to be Freeze but it MUST be CJP's choice) then:

Burn it down (the Board and Trustees)

But I dont think it comes to that. The situation before was a bit different. This is for a co-ordinator spot, you have a new coach so you pretty much need to give him what he asks for and as long as Fulmer backs it, I think it would be very difficult for the board to say No, even if they were so inclined. For a co-ordinator slot? I dont see why they would care too much and go out on a limb considering the already restless natives. Right now, Pruitt and Fulmer are building along and they are the ones firmly responsible for football success or failure. Why would the trustees do the one thing (aside from publicly stealing millions) that would nearly guarantee their ignominy?
