Will there be football in 2020?

No he didn’t. Good grief.
"And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?" Trump said during his daily briefing at the White House. "Because, you see, it gets on the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it'd be interesting to check that. So that you're going to have to use medical doctors, but it sounds — it sounds interesting to me."

Sounds to me like he is certainly suggesting it

So if a physician came out and said the 70 mph speed limit is dangerous because your chance of dying in accident at that speed is far greater than a wreck at 25 mph, should all roads be set at 25 mph or less?

Society makes choices all the time that result in more people dying. There are far more factors involved in making this decision than keeping the death toll at an absolute minimum.

That's actually a really good analogy

You can think that’s what he meant. But he never said to inject Lysol. Whomever believes he truly meant injecting Lysol is foolish to say the least.

There's definitely a chance that collegiate football won't be played this fall, sure. But to say as if there's a "0.00%" chance when countless athletics departments across the country are scrambling in an effort to develop myriad season-saving contingency plans seems more than a touch disconnected from reality.

Oh yeah? Season saving contingency plan eh? Do tell...

That's my belief as well....I've known twelve small business owners who are close friends that have been affected, three of which lost their businesses, due to the pandemic. In comparison, I personally know one, ONE, person personally who has tested positive with Covid-19.
Well I know three people who had it (all survived but were younger than 55 and in perfect health- one a competitive triathlete) who were as sick as they’ve ever been in their life but survived. And I also work for a small business and have at least four close friends who are also small business owners and none of those businesses have failed. So your point is?

yes - They didnt cancel any ball games or shut down the economy in 1917 or 2009 and Dr Jonas Salk, inventor of the polio vaccine was much smarter than this Fauci clown

It's generally accepted that the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918-19 killed around 50,000,000 people. Hit in three waves while mutating. The second wave in the fall of '18 was so virulent, it killed people within 24 hours.

Hopefully we'll have some treatments by the fall flu season to help, but there will be no vaccine.

My point is pretty simple...more people are affected by the economy shutting down than actually contracting Covid-19. How is that hard to understand? Shall I post unemployment numbers vs infected with Covid-19?

Guys. There is literally 0.00% chance of a college football season this Fall. Why?

(1) Covid-19 isn't miraculously disappearing;
(2) There won't be a vaccine by the Fall;
(3) Crowded stands with fans shoulder-to-shoulder is an impossibility;
(4) Teams playing in empty stadiums also impossible. The legal liability is a non-starter to "force" kids to play.

Adjust your mindset. Find another hobby.

Hopefully, we'll get either a vaccine, herd immunity or viable treatments prior to the '21 season.

Far from a 0.0% chance. Now there's a 0.0% chance they're letting fans pack a stadium, but there's certainly a real chance that there is football in some capacity.

Is the risk of contracting the virus, and potentially dying as a result worth a football season ?!

Do you think that A&M is just lying about their intentions here and, in actuality, have already decided to call the season a wash? How about the Oregon State AD; are his comments, made after Oregon's governor has effectively prohibited crowds for the first third of the scheduled season, merely posturing? This is more hearsay, of course, but what about these remarks from today's Finebaum show?

There isn't a single school that has come out and said, definitively, that the upcoming college football season won't be played. Anyone keeping up with the news would readily note that numerous options are being bandied about, from abbreviated schedules to conference-only slates to potential shifts in start date. There is unquestionably a lot up in the air right now given the uncertainty of where each given region of the country will be in four months, but it is readily apparent that major college programs are actively exploring/pushing towards having some semblance of a season whether or not that ultimately comes to fruition. Pretending otherwise, let alone saying that there's absolutely no chance of a college football season this fall, is truly asinine.

Spot on. Is there a chance of no football? Of course there is. Is it a certainty? Absolutely not.

You're correct that colleges are talking about it. Of course they are. Of course they're saying they're going to play, but it's all talk. The only scenario where we have as normal season in 2020 is if they develop a vaccine and mass produce it in absolute record time.

* I hope this happens*

But the likelihood is pretty much zero.

Is the risk of contracting the virus, and potentially dying as a result worth a football season ?!

Every sports season comes with risk of death. See the Marshall and Wichita State plane crashes. Is the risk of that happening again worth a football season?

Yes, I know plane crashes aren't contagious, but that doesn't erase the fact that everything in life comes with risk.
