Will we be able to run on Bama ?

Bama will use the A&M film to prepare. It will be a challenge but UT should have some success simply because A&M has more talent in the front 7 right now.

That's fortunate since it really helps on the road to be great on D and able to run the ball.

The A&M game was decided on the other side of the ball. The Bama game is likely to be the same.

I agree and as hard as Ive been on Milton, our wr need to get open. Playcalling needs to be better. No creativity this year. Play action should work good with this run game, along with some quick slants and mesh type plays to get Joe going. Joe usually has time, but he seems to stare down his guys a lot.

Will definitely need more versatility against Bama.

I agree that the offense could use some creativity on offense. Perhaps us layperson / fans could suggest some play calls that might catch the enemy off guard. I’d like to see some plays that that San Fran runs with CMC (Madden24). With Wright and Sampson being so versatile, run some hitch rails, slip screens, and TE wheels out of shotgun, and some sweeps and quick passes to the backs in single back. That and hit them with the playactions with some deep shots mixed in.

Our best playmakers are our running backs so i hope so.. Bama will stack the box on Joe and dare him to beat them. It's what ever team with a pulse on defense will do for the rest of the year. It's unfortunately a solid strategy..

Saban, and every other coach we face the rest of this year, will load the box and dare Milton to beat him. The question is will the coaching staff, Milton, and the receivers have the confidence to make the passing game the difference in the game.

Its going to be tough and we won't have the advantage of playing at home. I don't see us having enough to success to ignore the passing game and still win.

This team is capable of beating Alabama. I think they will need to play their best game thus far to do it. Biggest hurdle is the mental one, IMO. I hope we’ve got enough leaders on the field who don’t expect to lose.

Lots of confidence in this thread. At -9 Tide I genuinely want to know how much money each of you put on TN if you’re that confident in this team away from Knoxville vs a coach who isn’t a fraud like Jimbo.

I don't think Tenn will have the same success but they were a few plays and penalties (especially bogus ones) away from having a lot more points.

A few things unfold differently and they could still score 20+ with only 100 yards rushing.

The offense wasn't terrible. They just didn't finish drives. 4th downs and missed PIs killed promising drives. There were only a few 3 and outs, which I didn't think was possible with a Milton led offense.

Any thoughts on their front seven compared to A&M?
A&M was thought to have if not the best one of the best run defenses in conference. Before this game they were statistically the best I believe in conference. Bama will be good and they will have the crowd as well behind them. It won’t be easy to run on them.

It’s hard to load the box against us. We spread our WR receivers out so wide, that even if you want to load the box it is hard. It usually means bringing a safety down which we hope will result in some open receivers.

Yes. I don’t think we are likely to beat Bama at their house after embarrassing them last ye at, but we should give them everything and then some.

They aren’t as good defensively up front as A&M (nobody is though we are a lot closer than I thought).

Bama is beatable, but I’m not going to be overly disappointed in our team if we don’t pull it off.

I agree that we’re capable of giving them a game, but they will stack the box against the run and put their athletic, physical DBs in 1-on-1 coverage against our receivers. Milton will have to place the ball in the tiniest of windows for the passing game to work in our favor, and I haven’t seen him do that all year. I think this game plays out similarly to our matchup with Georgia last year. Hoping our guys prove me wrong and hang in there until the end, but I’m taking Bama and the points.

If Bama stacks the box, WRs have to go deep and pull DBs and safeties away. Let our TE’s and RB’s release underneath or out in the flat and take the 5-7 yard dink and dunks till it forces Bama to change what they’re doing. Milton will have to get used to getting rid of it quickly when those TE/RB release and get open for a quick second. You can go down field quickly on 5-7 yds every play…and burn some clock.

If I didn’t know any better I’d think I was reading the threads from Sept 10th leading up to our game in the Swamp, and we know how that turned out. This time we’re playing a good team. I just parlayed Bama and Mizzou to both cover on DraftKings.
