I think Heupel struggles with trusting Joe as much as we do.I agree and as hard as Ive been on Milton, our wr need to get open. Playcalling needs to be better. No creativity this year. Play action should work good with this run game, along with some quick slants and mesh type plays to get Joe going. Joe usually has time, but he seems to stare down his guys a lot.
Will definitely need more versatility against Bama.
If Joe Milton can hit our receivers we will win . Both teams are consistently inconsistent. Flip a coin.
Joe isn’t going to look amazing; mediocre will do just fine if this defense does what it’s capable of. I do agree though that the wrs may be a bigger issue than him in the passing game. We don’t need amazing we need a game manager and we can beat bamaIf our receivers simply catch the damn ball,Joe will look amazing.
He had st least 3 dropped passes that likely would have added 100+ yards and 1 TD to his numbers Saturday.
Joe aint great but the passing game is struggling as much due to WR issues as QB issues.
Is there a missing “ not” in the last sentence? It's a legit debate who has the better defense between A&M, Georgia, and Bama right now. They are all very good. But if we can run on A&M, I think we should be able to run on Bama.
My much bigger concern is our passing game, which looked horrid this week, and that was in Knoxville. Gotta wonder if Saban goes all-out on stopping the run and dares Milton to beat him. That's a strategy that can certainly backfire, but thus far, Milton has proven that he can consistently hit downfield receivers.
Their band wagon fans were embarrassed. That’s about it by the score of the game.why do people keep saying we embarassed bammer last year.. we beat them by 3 on last second fg after they missed a fg at our place and we gave up 49.. i dont think they were embarassed.
Why do you seem offended by other fans being confident in our team? No one needs to start gambling to justify themselves to you.Lots of confidence in this thread. At -9 Tide I genuinely want to know how much money each of you put on TN if you’re that confident in this team away from Knoxville vs a coach who isn’t a fraud like Jimbo.

I love the Vols like no other, but this post is spot on. A lot of posters currently puffing out their chests are going to be humbled, unfortunately. I’m guessing 27-10. Could be worse. Are we going to put up 200+ rushing yards? Highly, highly doubtful. While you can say well we put up 232 on TAMU and their rush defense was better, this is Alabama. Not TAMU. This is Nick Saban not DJ Durkin. I think we can get 100-135 yards rushing. But that’s nowhere near enough for us to win.
I don’t think we stand a chance in this game. As a matter of fact I can see Bama covering the 2 TD spread. Why? Simple. Joe Milton and our subpar group of WRs. Milton isn’t very good. And even when he makes good throws, more often than not they are dropped.
If we are to stand a chance a couple of things have to happen. Milton will have to have the game of his life. One dimensional teams don’t beat Bama. Two, the OL will have to play better than it did against TAMU. While TAMU interior is much better, Bamas edge guys are much better. And finally the defense is going to have to yet again play lights out. The problem is Milroe is not a statue like the other QBs we have played. He is an elite runner.
Why do you allege I’m offended? I simply asked what others think-no requirement that they justify but it’s nice of you to permit that level of authority. I’m just stating that if people are very confident, that’s a huge opportunity at free money. Why do you seem offended by other fans being confident in our team? No one needs to start gambling to justify themselves to you.
I think there’s a huge difference between squeaking out a single score win at home against a Jimbo coached team vs playing on the road vs a Saban coached team. They’ll need to play lights out in rushing, defense, and special teams because I expect Milton and the receivers will play similarly to what we saw last Sat or worse. I think it’s possible that our rushing attack and defense travel, but you’re not getting a special teams td vs Bama on the road to get the win. That means it’s probably going to come down to qb play and passing. If so, I think Milroe has shown a lot more progression vs Milton and that explains the line. In our favor, the series is very streaky so hopefully we start a run here.I genuinely want to understand why so many like you expect our running game to be shut down by the Bama defense.
Or that their offense, who barely escaped against a poor Arky team, is going to fare much better against our defense?
Edit
Caesars had us at +9.5 this morning and yes, i took it.
And hope the bammer goon squad doesn't flag us to death. No doubt Bama will load the box. So the offense must make them pay and make them play coverage, only then will we be able to pound them on the ground. And the most important aspect is to not let the crowd get us behind the chains and forcing us to run on 3rd and long like yesterday because the passing game is not working
Hate to say it but i agree with you. Hope they prove us wrong. GBO!Are we going to put up 200+ rushing yards? Highly, highly doubtful.
