So they were basically forced to play him is the way I read this:Oklahoma but they got 2 losses
yeah and he is not a true freshman either -- I havent watched much CFB outside of the SEC games so cant think of any true freshmen starting -- I know Ala**** didnt choose to play their 5 star true freshman QB eitherSo they were basically forced to play him is the way I read this:
"The Spencer Rattler era has officially arrived at Oklahoma after Sooners coach Lincoln Riley announced Tuesday that the redshirt freshman will be the team's starting quarterback to begin the 2020 season. Rattler entered preseason camp as the favorite to replace Jalen Hurts at the position but faced a worthy challenger in redshirt sophomore Tanner Mordecai, who dealt with a hamstring injury during preseason camp.
"It's been a little bit different competition," Riley said. "Spencer, I think, has played very well and is certainly very deserving of it. Disappointed for Tanner Mordecai. He had to end up missing 70 to 75% of fall camp, which obviously severely limited his reps or true opportunities to really go play his best ball and have a shot at it. That's football."
Yes. That was inspired play. Looking from the bird's eye view and listening to the national coverage last night and today, TN and Ole Miss both got thumped. Kiffin is going to get some elite recruits off of his loss. We're going to lose some. I know you have to have balance and we needed improvement all over the place, maybe still do. There's demoralizing, life force draining losses and there's inspirational, hope instilling losses.
I don't understand this either. Why can't we get someone better if our bench also sucks?
My other question..why does JG have to improve if he knows they will never bench him?
To me it all comes down to the elite guys seeing Dooley and Butch for their life and thinking Tennessee is garbage. CJP could not pull elite talent until he proved he could win. The start to finish last year has the top recruits now considering Tennessee. That alone is a positive sign. Especially since he’s landing guys like ToTo, Grey and Bailey.I understand that, but it's still confusing.
I agree. If Pruitt had been coach instead of Butch, Cade Mays probably starts here. Who knows, maybe even Trevor Lawrence. To me it all comes down to the elite guys seeing Dooley and Butch for their life and thinking Tennessee is garbage. I understand that too. Guess I'm just not saying it right. I'm confused because I'm not a coach and I'm not there. I feel like picking the QB to play is probably the hardest decision of a coach. No matter who you play half the fans will think it's the wrong person and you're an idiot. I'm not defending JG at all. He isn't our answer. He's basically a temporary thing. I think HB will be our solution and I hope he can play soon but I also know that putting him in at QB in Athens against an NFL defense would've been stupid.I understand that too. Guess I'm just not saying it right. I'm confused because I'm not a coach and I'm not there. Obviously.
Just seems to me Pruitt, Chaney and Tee could figure out a way to do better. I don't know how. I'm not making several million dollars to figure it out.
I love me some Pruitt and I'm happy with the direction we're heading. I got questions just like errbody else.
I only coached middle school so I don’t know much. What I do know is you go to war with what you have and sometimes the best you have isn’t very good.I understand that too. Guess I'm just not saying it right. I'm confused because I'm not a coach and I'm not there. Obviously.
