Windy's football discussion thread.

Maybe 25 really is going to be "Our Year". For Realz.

National media outlet says Tennessee Vols commit is 'poised for stardom' as a true freshman in 2025

"We have been high on David Sanders for three years. Since Josh Heupel arrived at Tennessee, the Vols have yet to start an offensive lineman his staff has signed out of high school. Sanders will buck that trend. Is he ready to go year one in the SEC? He's on the lighter side. If they can get him into a developmental strength program and get that body right and improve his play strength, there's a chance he's the Vols' right tackle opposite of Lance Heard in 2025."

They been reading VolNation FF?

Josh Heupel could stumble into a dream scenario for the Tennessee Vols

Fortunately for Heupel and the Vols, a dream scenario for the program could present itself in the event that Banks leaves for a head coaching job (if the timing works out).

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables' seat is starting to get warm with the Sooners off to a 4-3 start this season.

Oklahoma needs two wins to get to bowl eligibility this season, but there's only one "automatic win" left on the Sooners' schedule (OU hosts Maine in November). Remaining games at Ole Miss, at Missouri, vs Alabama, and at LSU could realistically all be losses for Oklahoma, which would leave the Sooners at 5-7. If Venables goes 5-7 in his third season, there's a realistic scenario where he's fired.

L’ville at BC is live, now 7-20
Rutabagas at Condoms doesn’t start for a couple of hours.
IMHO, the most competitive game tonight will be Boise State @ UNLV, starting in a little more than an hour

Whelp, L’ville did come all the way back to best BC, 31-27.

Meanwhile
Boise State 29-24 UNLV
USC 42-20 Rutgers

I dunno if anyone discussed the Tex / uga ref situation. Circling back to share what Tom Ritter (retired ref and reg guest) on Coach Doug Mathews show said on the matter.

Refs have the leeway to overturn any call they consider to be made in error. The play is not reviewable which means no insight from Refs not on the field. They got the call right and did not violate any rules or break prior precedent wrt officiating.

They cant look up at the Jumbotron and reverse the call during a delay for trash being thrown on the field....

That is what happened here...

Not according to Ritter. The official who called PI admitted mistake before the delay caused by fans.

They got the call right but this was a comedy of errors

1. They blew the call on the field.

2. Texas fans threw trash for a horribly blown call.

3. During the field clean up, the refs looked at the Jumbotron and reversed call. Dozens of pictures of them looking up at the Jumbotron.

4. They did not penalize Texas for the trash

I think you are getting a sanitized version of the events...
It really doesn't matter to me what you choose to believe. Many falsehoods in the discussion were shared as fact. I am sharing facts on the back end from someone who is in a much better position to offer them than any of us.
