He had been there a few years when they played Michigan State in the Finals. Off the top of my head, I think it was his third or fourth year.

i dont think RPI should matter when filling out a bracket.

power rankings are more important.

I'm actually basing mine this year on defense efficiency since that seemed to be a strong indicator last year. We will see how it goes.

Does that mean you have the Vols losing in the first round too? :birgits_giggle: I sure hope we can get the press working again...

I've got them losing to UNC. Originally I was going to have them losing to WSU, but WSU's defense numbers weren't as strong as I had thought they were. They are a good team but I think UT can get past them, at least I hope they can. MSU defense statistically wasn't that impressive either compared to UNC, so I ended up picking UNC over MSU.

Most of the "experts" have UT losing to Winthop or WSU :( so I guess I went out on a limb with my bracket :ermm:

I actually like/prefer to the Vols being the underdog... even if it means people are picking a 15 to beat them.

Like the beginning of the season all over again, no where to go but up.

So you're saying defensinve numbers were a "guide" to help you with your bracket, you didn't just give the better defensive team the nod? That's smart. I went ahead and picked MSU over UNC, but I too have the Vols going down in that Sweet 16 matchup.

I read this article and decided to go that route, it has some pretty compelling stats from last year.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_blogs/ncaa_tourney/2006/

I think this and the fact that UT has 4 of the last 6 is why everyone has UT dropping earlier.

The good news is none of their opponents until they get to UNC were that good on defense ethier.

I too picked UT dropping to UNC in the sweet 16.
