with good coaching this is a top 5 team

Yeah she's toxic, me-first, and should be kicked off the team. Other than that she's great....

There's a difference between calling someone toxic and calling their attitude toxic.

And before you throw your stones in your glass house, I suggest you re-read some of the **** you spew about Holly Warlick. One would think that you know her or something...

Attacking her character or not, Amb has Burdick figured out. I'm glad I'm not the only one that shares that opinion of her. If Burdick spent as much time getting her head into the game as she does making stupid no-look passes, jumping up and down over ordinary plays and talking trash to the opposing team, that would be helpful.

Just one correction..."jumping up and down over ordinary plays" against RPI 100+ opponents. You won't see her do that against Maryland. She was too busy cowering in fear while Alyssa Thomas threw her to the side like a rag doll.

I wouldn't mind her antics if a.) she was any good and b.) she was willing to do that against ND, Stanford, etc... and not just the overmatched teams. But it really does make me cringe.

Holly...please. I beg you. Send her to the end of the bench!

1. Holly is a well paid coach. Burdick is a student-athlete.

2. I have never criticized Holly outside of recruiting and what happens on the court.

3. Just reading your description I would think you were talking about Jameis Winston. I know Burdick is severely underachieving, but c'mon....

1. Doesn't matter. They're both part of the team, and you can't comment on the team without commenting on the players. And you also can't invoke some moral high ground code of conduct when you've been on Holly's ass for 3 years.

2. And I have not criticized Cierra outside of what happens on the court.

3. I fail to see where I likened Cierra to a rapist. Can you kindly point that out to me?

The line of questioning bounced back and forth like a basketball, from missed shots to suspect defense.

Both attributes betrayed Tennessee against Texas on Sunday. For Lady Vols coach Holly Warlick, there was no question as to which problem was more pressing. So she interrupted the postmortem of the Lady Vols' 72-59 women's basketball loss to the Longhorns with a thundering reply.

"I don't care if they hit a three; I don't care if they hit a shot," she said. "All I care about is getting down and playing defense. That's what I care about. I don't care if we go 0 for 15 from the 3-point line. I don't really care. All I care about is us getting down in a stance and getting a stop and keeping (the opposition) off the boards. Then I'll be a happy coach."

Still need players on the court who can score.

I believe Holly would have been given the job over Caldwell.

Caldwell is making at least $700,000 at LSU. LSU nearly doubled her salary to lure her away from UCLA.

So far, Caldwell has not earned that huge LSU salary. Her wins decline each year.

I think one of the issues with Nikki has been her pregnancy, being a single mom, trying to raise her kid, etc. I don't know how much her boyfriend has been around. I think if LSU will be a little patient with her they will be rewarded.

Holly's crazy comment about defense speaks VOLUMES about our offensive ineptitude! Yes, defense is important--very important--and, yes, Tennessee needs to play better defense. But then we've been hearing that for 3 years.

Holly is stuck in 1985, just as PS was: Teams today are a lot better offensively than they were 25 years ago (except us!). You have to have a good, efficient offense to win games. You have to score. This is why we sux offensively--and have for years.

You wanna know why Warlick is out to lunch? What caused us to fall behind by 12+ points at the half--greatly decreasing our chances of winning the game? Answer: Our pathetic offense in the first half, when we scored 20 points--and UT had to score 9 points in the last five minutes of half just to get to 20! And what does Warlick complain about after the game, as she ALWAYS does. Always! The defense! UT's defense isn't good enough--but it's the offense that is the main problem, which Warlick doesn't get. She doesn't get a lot of things.

So it sounds like our goal is to become Rutgers circa 2006. Great defense but can't score more than 40 points a game.

It's not surprising that we suck on offense when you look at the staff. Holly was mainly a defender in college. She was a great passer who could rack up assists but couldn't score worth a flip.

Elzy was a defender in college. She had next to no offensive game.

Not sure how many points Law scored. I think she was a scorer but she played for friggin' CViv at Iowa. Enough said on that point.

I don't know how good of an offensive coach Dean is.

Holly needs at least one good offensive assistant coach on her staff. She obviously doesn't know jack crap about offense I hope she doesn't become like Fulmer and become too loyal to her assistants to where they drag her down with her. And for what it's worth, I don't think Pat knew much about offense, either, but I do think she knew lightyears more than Holly. Pat studied offenses (consulted Phil Jackson in the 90s and the Villanova coach later in her career), was willing to change offenses given her roster, and was willing to learn something if she wasn't great at it. Holly isn't. And that's scary given that it's obvious she needs help. Holly appears WAY more stubborn than Pat, and I honestly don't think Holly realizes the problem. And if a problem doesn't get acknowledgment, it won't get fixed. Pat would've been pissed the hell off over that offensive performance in the first half of the Texas game, and she would have called the team out over it.

Seriously??? I'm not taking a moral high ground but coaches are absolutely held to a different standard than players, especially at the college level. I can't believe you're even trying to debate this.

2. And I have not criticized Cierra outside of what happens on the court.

Then I guess we have very different definitions of "toxic" and "idiot."

3. I fail to see where I likened Cierra to a rapist. Can you kindly point that out to me?

No, but the way you are calling for her to be thrown off the team you would think she was. She had an undisclosed rule violation, along with three teammates, but you aren't calling for their heads. I can understand, and agree with the call to reduce her minutes. It's obvious she isn't playing well. But I don't see where she has embarrassed the program to the point of wanting her off the team.

Criticize the players play but don't personally attack them. That's over the top. Cierra has the Vols' best intentions at heart she just isn't being used properly or coached properly. She isn't a shooter or offensive player at all, she can defend, get rebounds, and scrap. Holly needs to tell each player what their role is- to define it for them and how they fit into the team. She just apparently isn't doing that. So, don't blame the players.

Keep preaching defense and rebounds Holly. It'll get you where you want to be faster than offense. Got know how to defend and control the glass, then you control the pace of the game. You get to dictate the game. Yes, our players need to take better shots, makeable shots, and be more aggressive, doing what they do best.

Problem with your analysis is...we are not good defensively as well as offensively!

I was looking for a defensive gem from CPS and came upon this gem from Michael Jordan:

There are plenty of teams in every sport that have great players and never win titles. Most of the time, those players aren't willing to sacrifice for the greater good of the team. The funny thing is, in the end, their unwillingness to sacrifice only makes individual goals more difficult to achieve. One thing I believe to the fullest is that if you think and achieve as a team, the individual accolades will take care of themselves. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.

"Defense wins games. Offense simply determines the final score." Geno Auriemma

I'll say it again: offense is the program's biggest problem. The defense needs to improve--but the offense is the major problem and has been for years. Warlick, like Summitt, has a 1985 mindset--in those days nobody could score. That's not the case nowadays. Most teams are much more productive offensively. You will not beat good teams with an incompetent offense like ours--we've seen that repeatedly in recent years. With 5 minutes remaining in the first half against texas, we had 11 points. Ended the half with 20, 10 or 12 points down. The only reason we were still in the game was that we'd played decent defense--not great, but decent.

Rutgers for years had great defensive teams--the best defensive team in the country a few years--and yet Rutgers could never beat us or win a national title because they were terrible offensively. What's the biggest difference between Geno's Ct. teams and UT? It's not defense, typically; it's that Ct. is better offensively than we are--they pass the ball better, create more assists; better half court offense. They are defensively AND offensively. We are decent defensively now and bad offensively.

Caldwell made a huge public relations mistake at LSU. She was pregnant and not married and was on TV coaching in games. This did not go well with the LSU powers-that-be, some alumni, and some fans.

I am Guessing that the LSU AD told Caldwell to get married or she would be replaced as head coach.

Whatever the motivation was, Caldwell got married.

I don't see how having a baby has anything to do with the somewhat mediocre results of the basketball team.

I know that the first two or three teams we played were horrid teams but in those games we had people in there that we passing the ball and setting up players for open shots. We average 23 assists in those games. When several players came back from suspension we were suddenly not assisting any baskets and our assists fell from 23 to 9 versus Chattanooga and 3 versus Texas. We'll have to get the players willing to pass the ball back in the lineup or we'll lose several more game down the road.

1. Never called her either of those things (learn to differentiate between criticizing a person and criticizing behavior).

2. Never said that either

If you want to argue points, it helps if you don't make **** up to support your argument.
