Would love to hear your reasoning or inside info behind this

Many think Hyatt will opt out to focus on training for the draft. He had an incredible season so another game will not increase his draft status. Plus, he would risk injury during practices and the bowl game.

Doug Matthews surprised me with his comment f during his show Sunday. He said it wouldn’t surprise him if a few players elected to sit out of the bowl game. Then he said “I wouldn’t have a problem with it.” That surprised me as Doug is a ld school and coached for Majors in the late 80s and early 90’s.

But he went on to say that winning the bowl game wasn’t important, and coaches prefer playing younger players who are returning the following year.

What in the hell does Hyatt have to do with Merrill transferring?

Any team not making the playoff is going to have opt-outs. It's the new normal.

FBS is now the NFL D-League. If you want to watch actual college football, best to drop down to the D2 / D3 level.

There, they still play for school and team.

Go Vols.
And I enjoy the heck out of watching them. My son played 4 years in DIII and those kids loved the game.

To be fair, Milton has more practice reps with the non-starters.

He seems to have good chemistry with Merrill from their limited cleanup duty so wouldn’t be surprised to see Walker out there getting some extra snaps in the bowl game.

Milton, if he’s close to Hyatt and can talk him into it

I doubt any player will try an talk another into it when it comes to agents and parents who will be in the players ear telling them the risk vs reward for their health for a spring football draft. I imagine Milton being the type of player to just accept and support his teammates decision to opt out. Now do I want Hyatt to play? 100% but if Hyatt gets the advice he needs he will. If he plays and doesn't want to get hurt he probably isn't going to be trying to get tangled up in physical plays that increase injury likelihood so when a player is doing that in some cases it is best if they dont play anyways. Commit for the full game.
