With the Vols moving up to first team out, will the committee have to show their work?

I actually think TCU will be 3rd still. Their loss isn't as bad as Ohio State's loss. Their wins are better.

Agreed. One of the many things that bothers me with this format is that one of the criteria the committee uses is conference championships, which essentially aren't decided until these championship games. I hear these announcers saying 'I don't think a team should be penalized for going to a championship game and losing.' I ask why not? If the winner gets rewarded for being champion, why shouldn't the loser get penalized? If a power 5 team that was outside the top 4 were to win their conference championship game, that would immediately improve their chances of getting in. If that is the case, why should a power 5 team in the top 4 that loses to a 3-loss team in the championship game be immune to the consequences?

Just looked over Bama's schedule and they don't have any good wins. "Body of work" argument fails.

"Close losses" argument would be stronger if they didn't also have very close wins on their record.

I don't think the committee wants to set precedent on "loss of a key player". Even if they did, we mitigated that argument with the destruction of Vandy.

We have the same record. We have much better wins. We have the stronger SOS. One of our losses was to #1 who just won by 20 over the team that beat Bama. Honestly I think OSU should be ahead of Bama.

How will the committee show their work if they leave Bama over the Vols? Or will they choose silence?
They’ll come with a BS narrative and sell it. The Bama sack swinging sports media will lap it up.

...and regardless of our loss to SC, we should be ranked ahead of Alabama. That is the result of either recency bias, or Bama bias - but bias either way you look at it.

Some of you need to get off your high horse that the SEC is so tough top to bottom. Tenn beat Vandy, Ky, Fl, LSU, Missouri, who could have been beaten by lots of teams this year. They beat Ala last second after Bama missed a winning FG, who many say aren’t that good.
The SEC is on top because of the top 2 teams each year. Nothing more nothing less. Throw the other 129 teams in a bag and anyone can beat anyone else on a given day. Enjoy a NY 6 game. Been a long time. If Tenn is for real their opportunity will come. If not, they were not ready anyway.

SEC is 10 and 5 against OOC this year. Including wins against Clemson, Louisville, Texas, Pittsburgh, Utah, and Oregon. SEC looks Strong.

Big 12 looks okay at 7 and 3 but none of the 7 wins look like good wins. Weak, weak, weak.

Their wins are much better than Ohio State's. They have better wins than Alabama too. Their schedule isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be.
I think our problem is the eye test tells us all those teams in Big 12 are all over the place. Play as ranked and get beat 48-0 like Oklahoma State. TCU beats them in 2OT and 2 weeks later they get absolutely annihilated by that 48-0 score. That Oklahoma state was ranked 8th and yet finished 7-5. So some of those ranked wins are comical. (I realize our fans do that too counting Pitt and they were nothing special. Also it is admittedly not TCUs fault but the Big12 cash cow is really bad after Lincoln Riley left them in the night. Texas is average at best. Those would be the Big 12s routinely highest recruiting rankings schools. Any other conference you get a the routine of better players typically better product. We cant deny what Bama has done in past and Georgia is doing now. Heck we had our run in the 90s. TCU hanging their hat on Kansas State and Texas gives us the feeling if they were in SEC they would be Ole Miss basically like 8-4 not 12-1.

Neither of us deserve to be considered for a playoff spot. We obviously deserve to be ahead of them for purposes of bowl seeding. I also feel they are the more equipped team right now to knock off UGA if they snuck in. We aren’t going so as long as UGA loses I don’t care what happens. We will get screwed but we did it to ourselves.

Michigan Vs UGA is the only game that should have national championship implications.

But but but but there should be a 12 team playoff to determine a true national champion. Lol. What are we now 8 years in and some still can't see how useless the playoffs have been.

If they get in people should protest. And when I say protest I mean a modern American protest

So basically use a hashtag like #TCUdisrespect when we post things on social media and change our FB profile to a TCU pic or something?

I’m fine with GA, Michigan, TCU and OSU being in the semis. On ten continents Bama shouldn’t be in the CFP! They shouldn’t even be ranked ahead of us. May those one tooth, mouth breathing, sibling and cousin pumping, delusional inbreds suffer a catastrophic and precipitous fall from grace in college football to last a century. Hallelujah! Where’s the Tylenol!??

I see several posts about TCU not getting in. I would be very surprised if this is the case. Their only loss is an overtime loss in their conference championship game to the 10th ranked team. I really believe UT will be in the 6th position but could move one slot either way with 7th being more likely than 5th. We are Orange Bowl bound to play Clemson. Hopefully Dabo continues to stand by Ugalalala. But WGWTFA anyway.

TCU will be #3. They lost a close championship game. No way the committee will pit OSU and Michigan again so soon. No one wants to see that. OSU vs Georgia and TCU vs Michigan. Michigan vs OSU championship game.
Agree on all counts.

Only top 4 team who will fall out will be USC.
Which is something that bothers me. How can u fall only 1 spot after losing?! We lost to Georgia on the road and fell 4 spots. Not one soul believes K State & UGA are on the same level & in all honesty South Carolina & LSU could probably beat K State

These Bama fans are delusional. I have a friend that has been trying to convince for the last hour on Facebook that Bama deserves to be in the Championship hunt over our Vols.

UGA vs OSU
MICH vs TCU
You are probably correct; however, that will simply show manipulation on the committee's part to get the matchups they want. They will want to avoid OSU vs Mich in the 1st round since they just played. I think the data should be the only thing that matters regardless of the matchups it creates.

Saban knows he will not make the playoff.
Saban is trying to get to the Orange Bowl. Why? Recruiting?
The Sugar Bowl is in his foot print and easy for him.
Florida is a target rich environment with talent.
Bowl Games are about Future Recruiting.

IMO…and again in my honest opinion…extra game that no one else played. Had they gotten killed on the field (like USCw), they would have fallen.

IMO they played 2 very close games with KSU. They should be ranked slightly ahead of KSU.
