I hope Cameron Brink comes back good as new, but she'll be a rookie experience-wise. An elevated rookie since she'll understand life in the league and will have learned a lot by watching, but court-wise, she'll need time to become a real pro player.
I'm really looking forward to seeing if there's good chemistry between Rickea and Kelsey. If it's as good as I hope, that tandem could do some serious scoring.
IMO chronic fouling, not the knee, is the biggest challenge for Cam. But that's why they hung on to Azura Stevens who was apparently the original trade bait.
As far as Rickea and KP's chemistry, Rickea seems to really look up to Hamby and Hamby is over the moon happy about getting KP. Seems they were besties in Vegas, which may explain the Aces agreeing to let KP go. Hamby is enemy #1 for them, with her ongoing lawsuit against Hammond and the Aces.
Some anaylsts are saying this move, instead of drafting someone like KiKi, confirms the Sparks see Rickea as a long term top scoring option. Pretty sure she won't hate that lol. Seems the Sparks have no confidence in this draft beyond Paige and not much in Miles. But lots in Rickea, and as an added bonus, also in Rae. Rae has her best opportunity ever in the W this season,
I think sky more of a vocal person and Lloyd isn’t..this isn’t college might’ve meshed well in college just not in pros
.
Also, Loyd's Mom got heavily involved in the hostilities on social media making everything worse. Warning! Overinvolved parents who consider themselves "part of the team" are a major flashing red light.
Plum having to fill in as PG last season when Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young were both out was a disaster for Vegas, her decision making in that role just isn't there. LA still needs a PG imo, and now they'd have to trade for one while attempting to keep that young core together
Could be wrong, but I don't think the got KP to play point. They still have Julie Allemande, the Belgian pg who was out w injury last year. Believe KP will play her natural position which is SG. Rumor is the Sparks have promised state of the art facilities within a couple of years and KP has said she wants to stay there the rest of her career. She's from southern Cal.
I didn't realize Plum is just 30. This gives the Sparks a still youngish but experienced core for several yrs. Hamby is 31, Plum 30, Allemande and Stevens both 28, Rae 24, and Rickea and Cam 23. They need some more good bench depth and this roster already has people screaming "worse defense in history". But Lynne Roberts' plan is to outscore everyone anyway.
