Satou to Phoenix where she, Copper and Allysa Thomas will apparently play by themselves since everyone else has been traded.

Sophie Cunningham to Indiana is interesting. Unfortunately it's going to throw fuel all over the racial controverwhisies around the CC fan base. The Fever also got Natasha Howard, another player that can be controversial. Won't be boring for sure.

Fever traded Nylissa Smith and their first round #8 pick to Dallas which now has the #1 and #8 picks. First round picks are flying all over the place as trade bait. GMs just aren't impressed with this draft at all.

Interesting to me that Karl Smesko, who is known for uptempo, up and down offense, took BG in Atlanta. It's reported he told her he'd change his style if she'd come play for him. She's 36, frequently injured and selective about when she plays. That's a big ole gamble when Tina Charles had a great season for them last year.

BG is 34, Tina Charles is 36. Tina has played poor defense for years, at least BG is still a difference maker defensively, if not as dominant as she was in her prime.

I’m surprised Smesko got BG AND Brionna Jones, two low-post players who don’t seem to fit his style.

glv98, all this redistribution of players in mindboggling. I agree about Griner being a big gamble at 36. I have to think Smesko must be pretty darn sure she'll be so happy to be there that she'll find she still has some spring in those aging legs, otherwise he'll be starting over next season. Or maybe he's thinking if he can get one great season out of her it'll be worth the risk.

The sitch in Indiana is getting curiouser and curiouser. Sophie Cunningham? 😲

It's only two years, but there can be a world of difference between 34 and 36 in a pro basketball player's body.

Dijonni for Jacy Shelton!?!? Talk about giving away the store. Last one out of CT turn the lights out. Poor Marina Mabry, she thought Chicago was bad.

Dallas with Paige, Dijonna, Nylissa Smith and Arike is gonna be a movie.

Saw this coming when the Sparks signed Odyessy Sims yesterday. I expect Kia Nurse and Lexie Brown to be next. Maybe they can go to CT, they're looking for players. The Sparks, meanwhile, are really improving their roster.

Yea I’ll give it to Curt he did that😂😂 I was mad at how he kept pulling kea but he showing out with this…sun have nothing but marina she might try to leave if she can

Meanwhile, Angel Reese, who still can't hit a layup, just got tossed from her Unrivaled game after going after mocking Tiffany Hayes then the ref. In her defense, Hayes is a comical flopper. Her team only has 4 players.

Lucky for them, one of the 4 is Azura Stevens who has been amazing throughout Unrivaled.I guess not surprising since she's on the US National 3x3 team. Another Spark, Dearica Hamby has also been outstanding, had 35 against the Mist today.

Bonner to the Fever is a total surprise. Not sure she makes a huge difference. She was really showing signs of age last yr. Feels like the Fever are just kind of nibbling around the edges, though Natasha Howard will help them more than Smith did.

The biggest surprise is Thomas/Bonner not going to the same team.

yea I can’t think of a reason she’d go there I thought she’d sign with phoenix or go to golden state

The only reason I can think of is Steph White, DB's former coach, is now at Indy. Still puzzled she didn't go w AT. It's possible Phoenix didn't want/need her since they got Satou, but still surprised AT didn't insist on it as part of her deal.

Alot of these moves that don't seem to make sense are 1 year rentals like DB's deal. There's a new player agreement coming next year and things will really get crazy.

Don't think I've ever seen an entire starting 5 and coach all move at once. I wonder if the new CT coach knew this was going to happen. Talk about a rebuild!

I’ll take DB over satou😭 I know everyone just tryna do 1 yr deals I think we getting 1 or 2 more teams next season..and yea the sun are not doing any damage this season heard Meesseman might go there but still

I am shocked by this. In every photo I've seen of the two of them together Thomas has the kind of death grip on Bonner's hand that (alarmingly) screams, "This belongs to me!"

Or maybe I've subconsciously over-read between the lines of their situation based on Thomas' bullying playing style. She has always come across to me as capable of being kinda scary.

But who knows? Maybe she's actually the kindest, gentlest soul in the world. I apparently have too much time on my hands. 😅

R vs R last night in Unrivaled. RJ slipped but used RB to regain balance and score on her. Afterwards, Rae was all good with it. Those two LVFLs have really built chemistry.


eta: madtownevol pls note RJ is still doing the spin into a turnover move. But it also works a bunch for OFFA (one ft fade away) Going to be so interesting to see what Lynne Roberts, the middie hater, does with this.

I also get domineering bully fm AT's play but what I've heard from her off court is surprisingly soft spoken. It's a one yr deal so maybe we shouldn't read that much into it. Also I think DB is very near retirement.

Extra interesting bc DB was kinda on the anti Caitlin train last year.

I only say that because satou hasn’t played a full season yet and I know DB is a bucket but yea at is very soft spoken and I saw some of her plates she likes to cook😂

I don’t necessarily think it was a anti cc is was more so her fans and because cc wasn’t speaking up but she spoke up at the end of the season

Good point. Satou hasn't been reliable.

Speaking of injury history, I wonder if that was why the Sparks were ok giving up #2 pick. They do such intense interviews and studies on potential draftees, I suspect they may know something about Paige or Miles that caused them to trade the pick instead of Rickea, which is what the Storm wanted.
