Worley gets high praise from Ainge/Swain

practice man. Not a game. I want to believe and think he will step into throws with more confidence, better wr's, a TE, more explosive rb and a 2nd year in the system.
But he still looked scared at times with the lights on last year so when I see it live, I'm in.

Hey Sparty - you look different!

I hope Worley has gotten faster and more elusive cause I have a feeling he's going to be running for his life with this OL.

I find it odd that the coaches are tossing around praise like its free cash but absolutely no big praise to the QBs.

Somebody will start garnering some soon I imagine if for no other reason than reporters will keep asking whose doing well and they'll answer it with something.

Many are saying politely that QB will not be a strength for us this year.

Maybe the coaches way of doing it is not saying anything at all.

Who are the many? What is their access? What is their expertise?

You can take shots at Ainge and Swain but they do know what QB play should look like in this era of CFB and seem to have alot of access being both media and former players.

I cannot tell you whether QB will be a strength or not. IMHO, it wouldn't have looked like a glaring weakness last fall if the WR play had approached acceptable. If Worley has improved from what he did last year with a pretty bad WR group and a beat up TE group... I'm not worried about him being a liability.

QB update: Still not a lot of great news to report, though we saw a small bit of improvement on Monday. Joshua Dobbs had some good throws, but is still sailing some of them. Justin Worley is underthrowing a lot of balls. Nathan Peterman didn’t hurt himself in what we saw of his work with the first team, though it’s still difficult to see him really getting in the mix at this point. He’s done some good things in camp. We’ll keep an eye on him going forward.

From RTI so I'm not sure who's lying?

Maybe no one. Maybe they looked better/worse earlier.

Not sure about the opinion on Peterman though. He had a bad game. That's out there. But if he turns the corner and passes the other two... then why not pull for the guy who earns it?

Worley was an outstanding high school QB. He came here and went through the same crap the rest of the guys went through. Coaching changes, style changes etc. That may not be as difficult for linemen and other players cause only certain tweaks change and cadences. For the QB he has to learn everything over. Plays, cadences, terminology, so I admire Worley for his leadership, perseverance, determination and for the way he played last year. After being benched a couple times he could have easily opted to either say screw it or transfer home this year but instead he is a VOL and is proving that every day.

It is amazing to me that there are so many different opinions of "ONE VIDEO' of practice highlights. I guess that is what makes VOLNATION so interesting. It is like the sheep is white,,,oh no.. it is black...

I don't care who the QB is, just as long as they give their all

In all seriousness, it's Justin's position to lose. CBJ is still in rebuilding mode and even if he's not 100% sure on Justin, he's at least 55% sure. Have to go with the odds on this one.

I think I'm going to be sick. Wish I hadn't eaten before I read this thread.

I think Hyams simply said balls hitting the ground, so it can be inferred as a combo of drops/misses. But the rest of his spiel was praising the WR corps as the strength of the team and discussing how the QB's didn't appear to have improved much since summer. TIFWIW - it's coming from Jimmy Hyams.

He's reporting about last year's fall camp. :hi:
