I agree it is absolutely ridiculous to blame pearl for this loss, or to say that he needs to go. Tennessee has so much potential and this season was not a complete failure. We were blessed with Lofton and J. Smith last year, but they fueled our team. This team did not meet its lofty expectations because they had to find a new style of play. You could make the argument that this season was perhaps Pearl's second best coaching year because he made the adjustments to turn the Vols into a 1 seed in the SEC tourney. we only had three bad games all year IMO and those were the two KY games and our loss to Ole Miss. To me, we had no excuse for playing that bad, but we couldn't shoot at all. The USC game was a huge statement for how much the team matured and the loss today was just a small blemish on our extremely difficult schedule and may also go a long way to keep our boys' egos in check. So everyone should chill out and give the team your full support.
I'm willing to chalk up today's game to the early start and a feeling that the team wasn't playing for anything. The fans and team should know better since NCAA seeding is at stake in every game until the tournament, but I think everyone was overlooking this game ansd just counting it as a win. I also believe it would have been a pretty easy win if it started after 2pm. I'd have them shooting free throws at 8am every day until the next game.
All Tennessee had to do was hit MOST of the Free Throws and this topic is moot.
UT lost this game, Bama did not win it.
There's nothing to do right now. You're stuck with him. He has built up incredible equity with the portion of the fanbase that doesn't know if a basketball is stuffed or inflated. Also, had I been the AD in the Spring of '05, Bruce Pearl would have never gotten within 200 miles of Knoxville.
then i am glad you are not a ad b/c you would of made a huge mistake bruce pearl has brought life to a dead program and i guess winning the sec east is not enough for some of you guys.. as i stated before let this team finish the season before you pass judgement b/c im tired of seeing the negative posts after losses and the positive posts when we win...
I agree with this point, but will add something. We've finally witnessed Pearl building his team to a creshenda at the right time. This loss was a fluke. I think it could be very providential in that it stokes the fire going into the tourney of a team that has continually grown leaps and bounds over the last few weeks. Pearl will be able to use this "fluke" to hammer and refocus....get some serious sessions in and have a hungry team take the floor next week. Where are the Tennessee fans. The majority of you sound like a bunch of ingnorant inbreds, with no idea of what a fan is. You are a bunch of whinee sissy boys who only back one of our sports teams when they do well. You expect us to win everygame ??????????????????? That would be nice. But , Let's get real !!!!! A true fan backs their team. Win or lose. Grow up or get off this site. GO BIG ORANGE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes I wonder if this is a Tide site just fooling me into thinking its VOLnation...scary thought. And FWIW, I played college bball and everyone loses games they should easily win, it's easy to say they should do this and do that when you're sitting at home watching the game in your la-z-boy.
GO VOLS!
Does everyone lose multiple games they should win in the same season that they allow a player from one of their rivals to drop 54 on them?
1. The game started at the same time for both teams.
2. Remind me what Alabama was playing for today.
Not really. We still played a terrible game and lost to a very, very mediocre team, at home, on Senior Day. It's just not a good way to head into the tournaments, and we know we can play much better basketball.
