Worst Class Since?

You were like this last year...and the year before...and..."less optimistic"? How do you get lower than zero?

I understand lol. But it's going on year 5. Somethings gotta happen and we are trending downward, unlike the past two years.

if we win the bowl we have an identical record as '15, that's not trending downward.

We will likely end up somewhere around 12 to 17 when all is said and done. Say what you want about this class but the fact is we couldn't close with some in state talent. We missed at many skill positions and with the exception of Chandler we settled for third and fourth, or worse, options at skill positions of need. That is a problem that can't continue.

We missed on Higgins. I'm not sure why people continue to say we missed on in-state talent outside of Higgins? Maybe Philips? It's been beat to death, but Stevens never really gave UT a shot, and he never really wanted to come to UT. We got 3 of the top 5 players in the state (Chandler, Grey, and Smith).

It's been headed toward that 15-20 range finish for quite a while. Of course those saying it's only July were choosing to "wait". When it ends up 15-20 on NSD those same folks will swear it's loaded with underrated talent and they will "wait" to see how they develop. These situations usually play out the same way. Lots of waiting with inevitable disappointment.
Nailed it. Lol at people saying 15/100+ teams. Yeah but taking a 15-20 class gets you 8-4 records. Thought we wanted to win championships here.

prefect home for the miserable.

Let me ask...who is your new coach?

Finebaum asked that question of an anybody but Butch caller (prolly a VN poster). Answer was Charlie Strong or Lane Kiffin. The latter got a huge chuckle from Paul. Said that Lane would require an allowance for a security detail. :) Seen the Charlie Strong wish on here before and wonder why he gets a pass. I predicted (on here) he'd struggle because he's not the the corporate golf buddy with the booster type that the Longhorns job entails. But from a COACHING standpoint he failed. Jettisoned a large number of 5&4 stars that he didn't feel fit...so he got a pass the first season. Didn't recruit well his first two seasons and couldn't settle on coaches. That Wickline imbroglio where he tried to avoid paying a buyout for a new OL coach by hiring him as a co-OC? And then being unable (in court) to show justification? That's the embarrassing quotient that Negavols try to pin on Butch. Losing to Vandy is unacceptable, but it pales in comparison to losing to KANSAS. And some of us want THAT in Knoxville? :yuck:

But lets please continue to complain about something that isnt going to change!

EDIT: You really would have fired CBJ after Vandy? Seriously? I can't believe that.

Well yeah. Too late now. Right after vandy may have been different. Regardless we have no AD so it doesn't matter

Who's the homerun we missed out on? Herman was always Texas. LSU had half a season head start and ended up with Ed O. I was hoping on a contingency that Taggart would stay one more season at USF...that pick would have set a whole new bunch of you guys off. So firing Butch after Vandy wouldn't have made one magically appear...AD or no AD.

No. But he's on thin ice IYAM. I meant hypothetically if we did fire we would have more options back then

Can you imagine the media firestorm after firing an 8-4 coach? No one would come coach here if that is what got you fired! Have some &^#%$ sense!

Going by your OWN words? :wink2: MORE and NONE mean the same thing?

Maybe not options YOU wanted, but there was obviously more available over a month ago than there are now. Keep digging that hole :eek:lol:

Pretending to know what you're talking about is almost as good as the real thing. Extra credit for pretending that my point is floundering while yours is planted. I explained what our options were...but maybe I was "lying" again?

Who put you in charge of what our options are and are not 🤔 perhaps you should apply for AD?

Yes it is. We traded Oklahoma, UGA, Bama and Florida losses for S. Carolina, Bama, TxAM, and Vandy? Give me a break. 2016 was a worse year even though the record MAY be the same at the end. And I doubt we win the bowl with our awful defense we put on the field.

LMAO. Moving the goalposts aren't we? Soon you'll claim that UF and UGA weren't even playing their first teams, right champ?

CBJ may not be SEC COY, but he beat two of our three biggest rivals this year. If you're going to keep whining about the losses, then you need to give him credit for the wins.

Was as happy as anybody else that we won those games, especially Florida. But with benefit of hindsight, we can better define how good those wins actually were....I simply stated what they were. That wasn't a Steve Spurrier 1990s Florida type team, and that wasnt a particularly good Georgia team, at all.

The two wins were great, but the two losses more than counteracted them and wrecked the season. That's just the truth.
