Worst football program in the state?

Your right about most of there wins but how in the world did they get ranked in 02 when they started out
2-3 lost their first two and finish 4-6, and lose in first round.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL DATABASE - COCKE COUNTY

Whoops. I meant 01. It was my senior year, and I brain farted the year of the football season. They were 5-0 I believe and beat Morristown West.

I am an alum of Cocke County High School & i have always supported the athletics there. I went to every single game while i attended from 02-06 & i still make my way over to Hedrick Field for all the home games but i must say & this is now way suppose to be disrespectful to the kids that play football there but we have to be the worse football program in the state of Tennessee.

Here are the records for the past 5 years:

2008: 0-10 - No Playoffs. Closes game a 28-7 loss to David Crockett

2007: 1-9 - No Playoffs. Only win was against Volunteer 20-19

2006: 1-9 - No Playoffs. Only win against South Greene 14-7

2005: 1-9 - No Playoffs. Only win against David Crockett 34-14

2004: 3-7 - No Playoffs. Wins against Seymour (16-6),
Knox. Carter (27-18), David Crockett (21-7)

2003: 2-8 - No Playoffs. Wins against South Greene (39-0), David Crockett (39-14)

The last time we went to the playoffs was 2001 & we lost to Tennessee High in the first round. They dress an average of 30 kids every year on the team. Does anyone know of a program worse than this?

No buddy, I think y'all take the cake.

I would put North Greene up against anyone in the country as " worst " in the state...lol...granted, they are s1A, but they are BAAAAD year in and year out. real bad..maybe cocke and ng could schedule one another 10 times a year and shoot for .500 ( side note, the north greene girls basketball team was overtime away from winning state this year..maybe those girls could suit up for the football team)

I cast my vote for David Crockett. Truly a "Pioneer" in Tennessee football for all the wrong reasons...

In 40 years of playing football....

-Less than 100 wins since the school's formation in 1971 (98 wins precisely)
-that's 2.45 wins a season
-7 winless seasons
-8 seasons with only 1 victory

-2nd longest losing streak: 26 games (3rd game of 1986, all of '87, 6 games into '88; ended vs Campbell County, 10-7)
-in 1987, Campbell Co. ended a 23 game losing streak with a win over David Crockett (21-6)
-Other notable losing streaks: 21 games (1993-95), 18 games (1988-90), 15 games (twice, 2002-2004 and 2004-2005 sandwiched around a 23-20 victory against Volunteer HS)

-number of consecutive losses to 'rival' Daniel Boone: 8 (2003-present, if Boone wins the 2011 game it will 9 consecutive losses and a total of 8 Muskets lost)

The damage isn't done yet. They play Dobyns-Bennett (currently #5 in the state) next Friday and close out the season against Sullivan South (3-3, all 3 losses to top ranked state teams in TN, VA, and NC), Sullivan Central (also winless but by FAR less points allowed, somebody HAS to win), and Daniel Boone (2-4 but won against Volunteer 41-0, who beat Crockett 47-26 last night).

Jason McVeigh, Director of Sports Medicine at Tennessee, graduated from David Crockett in 1992. He did not play football.

I haven't read all of them, but i saw one at a high school over in Knoxville the other day. there were very few pictures and none of the cheerleaders. too much advertising and not even a list of the opposing team's lineup! I like most of them but they are kind of expensive...oh well, just my opinion...:)

How come Sullivan East's 56-6 win wasn't in the 2nd list with the "Most points ever given up in a single game"?

Sorry, I must have left it out by accident. I'll edit the list, as well as adding the 56-7 win by Dobyns-Bennett last night. It was 49-0 at halftime. DC didn't score until under a minute left in the game.

Up next, David Crockett (0-4, 0-7) at Sullivan South (2-2, 4-3).

Next week David Crockett (0-5, 0-8) will host Sullivan Central (0-5, 0-8) in the Toilet Bowl in Jonesborough before ending the year in the Musket Bowl at Daniel Boone in Gray. This is statistically the only chance either team will have to win a game this season. Sullivan Central finishes the year at playoff bound Sullivan South- who of course just defeated DC last night.

Trust me. Campbell County is absolutely horrible. I quit my soph. year and went to Oak Ridge.

Ironically, it's players like you that make programs like Campbell County so bad. (Of course, that's assuming you were actually a decent player.)

Well the season is over and David Crockett did manage to win the Toilet Bowl over Sullivan Central in what was actually an exciting game. Central scored with less than 3 mins to play to take a 28-21 lead. Crockett came back and put together a drive ending with a TD with less than a minute remaining. Crockett decided to go for 2, and converted to take a 29-28 lead. With less than 30 seconds to play, Central ran out of time.

The win ended an 11 game losing streak and was DCHS's first win since... playing the Sullivan Central Cougars last year.

Three nights ago David Crockett met Daniel Boone (whose idea was it to saddle these schools with such ridiculous names anyway?) in The Musket Bowl. The Trailblazers, not having the best of seasons coming into the game at 4-5 (4-3 in conference) held a slim 7-0 lead after 3 quarters in a driving rain. But the Pioneers fumbled twice (they actually fumbled 13 times that night, but only lost 2  ) and Boone pooch kicked a kickoff into the middle of the Crockett return team where no players were and recovered it- all leading to 3 more 'Blazer TD's. Final Score- Boone 27, Crockett 0.

The 'Pioneers' finish the season 1-9 (1-6 in conference).

It is their 9th season with only 1 victory (in 40 years of playing football).

It was their 9th consecutive loss to Daniel Boone, losing yet another Musket, this time a 3rd one in a row, and 8th overall. Crockett is now 9-31 all time vs "rival" Daniel Boone.

In this picture, you can see that the David Crockett football team uniform looks to be made up from 2 different uniforms from 2 different teams: the helmet and pants from one team, and the jersey from a different team:
Musket%20Bowl%205.jpg

Then again, when your team colors are officially "Buckskin and Brown" (which essentially means Light Brown and Brown) there's not really any combination of uniforms and designs that would actually look good.

What's even more absurd is where did these colors come from? Most consolidated schools have colors mixed from the old schools that made up the new school. David Crockett's prior schools were Jonesboro High (Tigers-Orange, Black, & White), Lamar High (Cherokees- Green & Yellow), Washington Academy (Knights- Black & Gold) & South Central (Wildcats-Blue, Red, & White). Even "rival" Daniel Boone kept colors from their old high schools: Red from Fall Branch Cardinals, Boones Creek Bars, Sulpher Springs Gamecocks; Yellow Gold from Gray Knights (Black, Gray, & Gold) and Sulpher Springs Gamecocks (Red, Yellow, & Black).

For those that are curious, the 'home' uniform (vs Sullivan Central) doesn't look any better....

I'm not hating on the school so much as simply making a case for them as the worst football program in the state.

Yeah, I'm hating on the uniforms. They're ugly. Those kids deserve to at least look like a decent football team.

And no, not a SHHS alum. Although that's not important.

Clinton went from 10-0 2 years ago to 0-10 this year. In fact Clinton hasnt won a game in anything this year Boys and girls BB .. Jellico is pretty bAD AS WELL

We should have a VN gathering at Red Boiling Springs to show some love for the Bulldogs. Probably collapse the stands with a solid turnout.
