Well CCHS pulled a good year out this year. The kids are great kids too. What a difference 3 years can make.

I'd venture to say in the state my friend. It's like those kids don't grow after 8th grade.

They also didn't win one game in my 4 years at that school.

And when they argue with the band about who is better, thats when you know you are horrible

Jellico is pretty bad at football, but their basketball team turned around a bit. Got a D1 player that is signed with MTSU.

HAD an excellent program. I believe we went 0 for this year. Don't think we won more than a few the year before. Granted we had some solid seasons from 03-09. Still have a bitter taste in my mouth about our Powell game in 07. I don't think I've ever felt worse after losing a game.

We need a coach bad, it has turned into a joke since Roger Perry left for Mt. Juliet. RBS could have took us this year.

Just to update the futility of what passes for a football program at David Crockett High School....

The Losing Pioneers finally achieved 100 wins in the program's 41 year history in 2012, finishing the season 2-8 (0-7 in conference). They put up 82 pts in their 2 wins, but only 48 points combined in the other 8 games. Their all-time record is now 101-321-1. The season was highlighted by new all-time worst losses to Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill.

For the 10th season in a row, they lost to "rival" Daniel Boone, making DCHS 9-32 all time vs the Trailblazers. For the 2nd season in a row they failed to score a single point in the "rivalry game".

As you might have guessed from the lack of scores from DCHS in multiiples of 7's or 3's, the team had no true kicker. Not that it would have mattered in the clutch, as there is were no clutch moments that a made or missed FG or PAT would have made a difference.

It is the first season opening win for DCHS since..... you guessed it! Since they played Sullivan East to start the 2010 campaign.

Union County is pretty bad. I remember playing them and it was like playing a pee wee football team. If i can remember correctly, they have won 3-5 games in the last 12 years or so.

The same source I use for the David Crockett statistics shows Red Boiling Springs football was established in 1974, 3 years after David Crockett. RBS is also a 1-A school, DCHS is 5-A but usually only has a roster comparable to a 1-A or 2-A, plus they get beaten by 2, 3, & 4-A schools often. For a 1-A, it's somewhat understandable. For a 5-A, it's downright inexcusable.

Gibson County has only been around since 1989 (according to my findings), and is a 3-A.

Union County has only been around since 1993, and is a 4-A.

From that perspective, I'd say the worst of these four are...

4. Union County Patriots- least tenure of losing, and usually seems to eek out 2-4 wins a season, which is a juggernaut in this group.

3. Gibson County Pioneers- The only reason they're not #2 is because they haven't been losing for nearly 40 years. Maybe they should have looked to that infamous team from the east with the Pioneers name before deciding to call themselves Pioneers as well. That, and they have had a couple of anomaly seasons where they're at or above .500.

2. Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs- 38 years of losing, but 1-A schools are kind of expected to get kicked around.

Union County the last 3 years - 0-30

I know a stretch when my newphew played they had won 1-2 games the entire four years he was there.

They changed their name from Horace Maynard to Union County sometime. They also were 3A before the changes in classifications a few years back.

They were in the "bad" region with:

Claiborne County
Rutledge
Ect.

In this region you could win 1-2 games and make the playoffs. They would then get crapped on by Austin East, Fulton, Kingston, Anderson County or Gibbs.

Sullivan East could be considered.. I played on the team Last Year that went 7-4, like the 2nd best season in school history.

Sullivan East has played David Crockett annually since 2005, going 5-3 against the Pioneers in that period.

Reviewing the stats for Union County, they are much worse than I initially realized. Not sure where I got the impression that they have winning seasons once every 4 or 5 years...

At least not much is expected from these no name schools in the corners of TN. It's a shame that the biggest county in the entire state has the worst football programs for schools though.(Outside of Ensworth which isn't a public school)

You would think the majority of talent would be in the capital where the most of the population is. However TN is ass backwards in that regard.
