Worst football program in the state?

Easily Hillwood or Hunters Lane High School

At least not much is expected from these no name schools in the corners of TN. It's a shame that the biggest county in the entire state has the worst football programs for schools though.(Outside of Ensworth which isn't a public school)

You would think the majority of talent would be in the capital where the most of the population is. However TN is ass backwards in that regard.

Metro Nashville has produced some excellent programs through the years. It's just not nearly as common as one would think. Pearl Cohn in the 90's and Hillsboro in the 2000's were as good as any urban programs this state has ever seen, and that includes Memphis.

The thing is, while the big cities do have a ton of talent, those school systems are so big that it's hard to maintain much semblance of continuity at the administrative, coaching, and player levels. Compare that to the suburbs/rural areas of the state where the vast majority of the kids grow up playing football together and many of the coaching staffs remain fully intact for years and years at a time. It really does make a difference. And a pretty big one at that.

This school has been bad for many years since like 2003. When I played we won 5 games between 2004 -2007

Whites Creek was good in football & basketball from around 88 thru 91.

When I was at Knox Central, we played Whites Creek and they werent very good. But Coach Helton told everyone how good they were in the early 90s. Matter of fact, I think they beat Central when Todd was there.

I'm sticking with my mighty Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs :D...

Sale Creek is new to football this year, and that score tonight indicates they have a long way to go before they're ready to compete with...well, anyone.

Whatever happened to Erin, Tn.? I know that it might now be known as Houston County H.S., but probably in the 1970s, Litkenhous ratings used to list it as Erin and some friends and I used to joke about Erin (not Erwin, a similar sounding name). Erin used to almost always have the worst ratings of any school in the state. Of course, that was when schools were much smaller, before a lot of consolidation.

It's not even close actually. Red Boiling Springs is on a 60+ game losing streak. They are 18-202 since 1986! Oh yeah, 1 of those 18 wins was a forfeit.

They also had a 63 game losing streak from 1986-1993,and had a long losing streak prior to 1986.

My gosh! I think my Franklin County Rebels might actually be able to beat those guys!:good!:

They went to the playoffs last year. I would imagine they will be back this year too. They have a very good RB to rely on right now.

I have lived outside of TN for too long but is this a historical look at the worst programs or just current? Back when I was at Cherokee in the early/mid 90's, Cocke Co was actually pretty good.... I believe Birdie Dockery was a finalist for Mr. Football the year Dustin Moore won it and then flunked out of UT the next year. In the old region 2 4A, it was usually a battle good race between Morristown West, Greenville, and Cocke Co w/ the others producing some ok years too... Cherokee included... especially that state semi-finals in 1994.

I have lived in rural eastern NC for too long to remember what quality HS football is like.... there are a few teams and ok schools around here, but it is generally lacking to what I remembered in HS. I did get over to New Bern once and saw Hardesty's name on their wall of fame. :)

They're a respectable team. If HC could put it together they could advance a round in the playoffs, until they run into a team like Trousdale County.

I agree, last year was their year to make a little more noise. The Tharp kid was a good HS athlete and they had a few other kids who were athletes.

Ok guys this is what I came up with according to HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL DATABASE

from 1 being the worst heres the list:
1. RBS(Red Boiling Springs)-39 wins since 1974- Avg 1-2 wins -1.08
2. Middleton-21 wins since 1995- Avg 1-2 wins-1.4
3. North Greene-61 wins since 1976-Avg 1-2-1.8
4. Community 1 win in 4 years avg 8.8 pts in 4 years-if continue they will be worst than RBS-0.25
5. Memphis Northside-36 wins since 1993-Avg 2 wins-2
6. Stone Memorial-8 wins in 4 full seasons-Avg 2 wins-2
7. Hamilton-37 wins since 1993-Avg 2 games-2.05
8. Cocke Co-24 wins Since 2000-Avg 2-3 wins-2.18
9. Gibson Co-47 wins since 1989-Avg 2-3 wins-2.2
10. Campbell Co-79 Wins Since 1975-Avg 2-3 Wins-2.2

Worst 3 by Class IMO
A
1.RBS
2.Middleton
3.Community
AA
1.Stone Memorial
2.Memphis Northside
3.Gibson Co
AAA
1.Hamilton
2.Cocke Co
3.Campbell Co

Its funny you brought this up because I was thinking Middleton as soon as I saw thread title. Probably hardly anyone knows who they are. There is no yelling the last time they won an in state game because the play 2 teams from Mississippi almost every year and that's where they get their wins. their basketball team however is is a different story.

WHOOOOOOOAAAAAAA NELLIE!!!!! By the time those Hilltoppers got to the top of that hill, they had dropped 90 points on those po' Pioneers!

Yes folks, we've had a stressful couple weeks. It looked like Armageddon was starting with Syria serving as ground zero. But an even bigger harbinger of what could be the end of the world as we know it.... DAVID CROCKETT STARTED THE SEASON 2-0!!!!!

Wins over Sullivan East and Unicoi County (each making a statement for inclusion in this thread) left the Pioneers 2-0, and some wondering if the world was going to end.

Then it started.

School and community pride turned into trash talking on social media sites. Head Coach Jeremy Bosken was named Tennessee Titans coach of the week (voters obviously had no idea where Sullivan East or Unicoi County were, or if they even fielded competitive football teams). Local business owners were even commenting that they would close up shop early on Friday to make the trip to Kermit (just the tip) Tipton Stadium. Even Judge (and Crockett alumnus) John Rambo cleared his docket of hearings and an early autumn round of golf with Mayor (and Crockett alumnus) Kelly Wolfe to attend the game.

We can all rest easier now. Thankfully, Science Hill proved the end of the world is not nigh.

After leading 76-14 at halftime, the 'Toppers cake walked the second half with a continuously running game clock to win 90-21. That's not a typo. NINETY to TWENTY-ONE.

And now, the updated stats in Crockett football futility.....
