Not convinced yet about Martin but we owe him a couple of years to try and get it turned around. Pearl left some real turds in the locker room when he left. Doubt he would have been significantly better but this team is a mess except for Maymon on occasion and the potential of Stokes. The rest; UGH. Please leave ASAP.

the sooner we get pear's guys out and ccm in the quicker we will be able to get a good idea of how things will be. i dont know that next year will truly be much of a sign of this, we may have to wait until the 2013 season.

Problem with that is that it is a little late for Martin to run their tails off. That is something that should be done in the preseason conditioning and early practices. It appears as if Martin is a soft undemanding coach like Wade Houston or Jerry Green. I don't believe he is going to make it unless UT admin is willing to settle for mediocre results. I have always believed that the best coaches are the most demanding coaches. I have always believed that practices should be so tough that the games would be easy. An old saying is "that if you play when you practice you will practice when you play". I think this is very true and it seems to me that Tn practices when they play.

because clearly the all time leader in wins coach k is an extrememly demanding coach. this guy RARELY gets off the bench and hardly ever raises his voice. way to make a donkey out of yourself on that one. GTFO

Quit blaming Pearl for Martins failures. Thats stupid. You can either coach or you can't.

It is all Pearls fault right. What an idiotic post.

It won't be fixed overnight. If he were to come in and immediately bench all of the upperclassmen, it could hamper the process. Now, they all know the deal and its easier for a team to deal with changes.
I think he has played it well. We weren't going anywhere this year anyway, but have a shot at being good next year if we can keep building positive momentum. Wool, hall and cam are momentum killers.

the best coach in history couldn't lead Bearden HS to a win over an SEC team. Players do matter

I agree players do matter. Coach Martin has said that this team is loaded with talent, so really you are argueing with him. Guess you are a much better judge than he.

There were the most dismal expectations for this team when the season began. No one would have believed we would have played good teams close, nor that we would beat FL or UCONN. I'm not gonna dog CCM or CBP, but just keep hoping we get better.

Last night we played poorly, veterans didn't stand up, and we got spanked. At the same time, the team that beat us has draft picks on their roster. We have one potential pick, and he's just barely 18. That makes a difference regardless of who's coaching.

i didnt say its pearls fault why dont you read, i said pearls recruits. same thing could be said if jim bob freaking cooter was the previous coach if he played the system pearl did. pearl didnt care about defense or intensity in his recruits thats a damn fact, martin looks for that 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th in a recruit. pearls guys dont really fit ccm style, so they either have to transition, see maymon, or just quit, see tatum and mcrae.

Sorry I can't agree, but then I don't enjoy losing. If Pearl was coach of this team without Stokes, he would easily win 20 games and go to the NCAA. But then the players would have been puking their guts out in the preseason practices. They would be able to play for 40 minutes with constant pressure on the their opponents. and they would score at an average around 80 points a game. Thats based on the history of what he has accomplished almost every year he coached.

talent doesn't always get you over the hump either. We haven't seen a true pg since CJ left

Almost every year he coached he had really good ball players. Chism, Tyler Smith, Prince, Jajuan Smith, Lofton, and the list goes on. We have Maymon, and Stokes, whom you excluded from your hypothetical situation. I just don't see 20 wins and 80 points with the way we shoot.

for craps and giggles we'll say the ncaa allowed pearl to stay, this is what you have.

golden/mcbee
mcbee/juco
tatum/juco
maymon/walk on
hall/juco

woolridge and mcrae were both gone, there is no promise that hopson would have stayed if pearl was here. he may have or he may not have remember he did think that he was a 1st round lock so he probably goes. sure pearl will bring in a couple guys right? oh wait no he wont he's not allowed to recruit remember? so you bring in a scrub or 2 juco ok. this team would win 5 games, are you serious. also, please try and realize that golden probably doesnt put in the work he did if pearl is here, and isnt what he's been this year.
