So do you think Pearl deserves any criticism for the state he left the program, and/or would you have criticized him while he was coaching? The reason I am asking, there's some that think Pearl was God and could do no wrong, and yes I do agree, Martin is our coach and deserves to be criticized when things go wrong now.

I think Pearl and the UT both should have gotten criticized for putting himself in the situation that he did. Like it or not, Pearl was probably the best men's basketball coach that UT has ever had. That's why he's put on a pedestal. There are many fans that would trade CBP for CCM in a heart beat. But every Pearl remark doesn't need to be spun in a CBP vs. CCM debate after every single game. It gets old reading the same ole debate and comments and CBP did this and CCM does that. If someone comments on Pearl just let it go and quit spinning it into a debate. It will be much more enjoyable here.

I agree completely with almost all of that. But Pearl is no longer coach here (even the ones who would trade for him right now, need to realize that), there's really no reason he should be brought up at all after a loss/win/before/after a game.

As time goes on, he probably won't be, but year 1 after his departure it should be expected.

Even a comment here or there, doesn't warrent a select few to continuously push the CBP vs CCM debate.

Oh I agree completely, I just think it's stupid that CBP get's brought by his "fans" after a bad games, but not after a good game. It goes along with what you said a few posts ago... We just have to look at it as this is CCM's team now, and move on.

The truth of the matter is 90% 0f the time when Pearl is brought up it is by someone like yourself after someone criticizes any aspect of Martin. ( And I guess TANNING BED could have done better) Sound familiar.
These remarks are what gets these arguements started.

It's actually the Pearl supporters, not UT supporters who piss me off. The one's who would rather Pearl be successful than the basketball program. I have nothing against Pearl at all, I supported him like hell while he was here, but now Martin is here, and it's time for everybody to support him.

That was a quote from the head Pearl hater. Just as a sample. You have sarcastically mentioned after a Martin criticism " and your basketball God could have done better".
These things don't help and I really hope Martin does well.
He is our coach and as Martin goes so goes our team. It doesn't mean that I will not criticize him when I think it is warranted.

Yeah I just do that when Pearl people get on here saying he could and would win 20-25 games with this team and blah blah blah. That just gets on my nerves. I don't have a problem with him, or people who really do like him. There just comes a point when they stop being rational, if that makes sense.

I understand and wish these arguements would cease. I see some really good things with our team and some really bad things. Let's hope for the future.:)

Wille started the pearl comparisons and using it to criticize Martin in this thread. Once it was him starting this not myself.

Comparing anyone to Wade is a real low blow.He truely couldn't coach his way out of a wet paperbag.The only good thing he did was bring Allan with him but is was a simple one man dog and pony act.Make no mistake AH could play the game.We have some Seniors this year who need to be on the pine.
