Alot of people clearly want Pearl gone and after each loss they use it as another reason to fire him. Really? You think that his team's poor performance this year is a firable offense. This guy is not a mediocre coach and his resume proves it. This has been a tough year on and off the court. If you want him gone because of the off-court stuff fine. But stop using the team's poor play as justification.

If he didn't lie then any talk of him being fired would be the normal ranting you see after every loss, that all fans do.

I'm sure some UK fans called for Cal's head a few times this year.

The better question is whether people would want Pearl gone if we were in the top 10 and make another deep run in the NCAAT.

I wanted him gone after the lie. Then even more so after the "bump" incident four days after his public "remorse" show.

If not for that crap then no, I would not want Pearl gone. Also I don't think the team would have played as bad this year if they didn't have all this crap going on. Just my :twocents:

How much better/worse is this team this year, without the off the court controversy?

If you can answer that honestly, you should be able to determine how valuable you find Pearl.

Or you could just look at his resume as a head coach and it would become pretty obvious how valuable he is.

I would not want him fired without the ethics charges, no.

The abysmal job he's done coaching this team makes it that much more appalling that we're sticking out neck out for this guy and risking even worse punishment to keep him around.

That's also a huge factor. If Pearl is here for every game and doesn't miss 8, do we end up 8-8, and if there was no distraction, would we have done as badly.

Even if we had done as badly, without the incident you couldn't seriously call for his head.

As a basketball coach, or do you just not like him personally?

As a person, he just seems fake to me. It all started with the Tyler Smith situation, he went into an interview and it just seemed to me like he forced the tears because he was on national tv. I never really had an opinion on him until then. Then hearing a few other things about him solidified my opinion on the matter. I'm thankful for the things he has given the basketball program, aside from any potential sanctions.

For me, it has nothing to do with what we do on the court in this situation. Even if we were undefeated, it has nothing to do with the lying and attempted cover up by Pearl. He has put the program and University in a bad spot with his actions and due to those actions alone, I feel he should be let go.

Without the NCAA mess, there would be no justification for Pearl leaving. His record at UT would not justify any discussion of his being fired, despite the mediocre performance this season. I really believe that the pending NCAA situation has had a much more major impact on the play this season than Pearl of anyone else wants to admit.

Ok, maybe he deserves to be fired because he put the program in a bad spot. But that's bot the question to me. The question is Should he be fired. In other words, "Are we better of with him in the future, or someone else?"

With what we would have to go through to keep him, no question that we would be better off with someone else.

I think we are better off in the future by cutting ties with Pearl
