Would you still want pearl gone if he didn't lie?

The apex of stupidity on this thread was reached when multiple posters suggested that the reputation of a university has been tarnished by the actions of its basketball coach. Or the notion that private schools are not far and away superior to public schools. Not sure which. But back to the first point if Pearl's actions tarnished the reputation of anything it is the basketball program. Which most people are able to separate completely from the university.

You are a fool.

This is garbage. To pretend that the kid gloves handling of this situation doesn't impact the outsider view of the greater university is naive at best, utterly stupid most likely.

What's the first thing people think of when Miami is mentioned?

I'm sorry but you are wrong once again. Almost anyone looking at this situation would not see the university any differently because of this. They would be smart enough to understand that regardless of who the basketball coach is the university is probably pretty similar to what it was before they hired said coach, and to other universities in it's category. So just because they may think a basketball program has become corrupt because of it's coach, they still have enough sense to see that this has not fundamentally changed the university in any way, shape, or form.

Pearl's actions themselves don't tarnish the reputation of the university. The inaction of our administration, by clearly valuing winning over integrity, does.
