Would you still want pearl gone if he didn't lie?

Look, idiot. You've already been through two screen names here. We get it. You're a mindless suck who is impressed by body paint and one conference title in six years. You're welcome to leave when your hero gets the door. You are so impressed with the Horizon League, you can follow Pearl and his staff of bottom feeders there.

I just might if we replace him with a MVC loser who still hasn't gotten his program where they want to be in his 4 years now.

To answer the question posed in the thread title: NO, I wouldn't want him fired if he didn't lie. That's a no-brainer. Even the guys who generally dislike him, wouldn't want him gone based on this year's performance.

Here's the catch: I doubt this year's performance would have been so Jeckyl and Hyde if not for the NCAA issues

He panicked.
I can forgive that for a few more seasons like his first 5.
I remember well, the years before he came here.

He panicked when he asked a recruit's parent to lie for him? An assistant coach let him know the day before that the NCAA was coming to speak with him and showed a picture of Jason Shay's wife at his house and he panicked?

Well, shut my mouth Colonel.
I'd still keep him.

Good for you. A conspiracy of lies isn't enough to warrant his dismissal. The damage to the reputation of the program and university isn't a major concern. Next time a student lies or cheats we'll dismiss them, but keep our lying, cheating basketball coach if he'll just win some games for us. This is the image we want for our university.

We get your stance. No need to repeat it 1000 times, now with theatrics.

I guess you're right.
Let's get back to the days of 10 people in the stands and struggling to finish .500.
Show me a liar, I'll show you a politician.

Half the guys on this board wouldn't care if we got caught blatantly fixing grades and playing players. The school only exists as a vehicle for sports teams.

Half the major schools wouldn't exist if they didn't have sports.
How would they pay the bills?
Science debate teams? tune in to CBS for the Ohio state Penn state show down.
The Pearl mess will blow over in 2 years just like Calipari's.
Would you rather fire him and have LSU pick him up or somebody else and beat the crap out of us for the next 10 years?

We have now hit the apex of stupidity on this board. There's not a school in this country that counts on athletic money to fund its its academic side. Congratulations. You've proven every stereotype of Tennessee fans being backwardass rubes to be on point.

More exaggerated drama.

Not at all. I've been on this board a long time; I get in arguments all the time with them. They're not interested in anything about the school other than football and sometimes basketball. You talk about the reputation of the university, and they respond by talking about what a big business college sports is, and how nobody gives a crap about classes at a school like UT anyway.

It's not a coincidence that most of the people you see who think Pearl should be fired for unethical conduct are students and alumni, and most of the people who don't think lying is a big deal and winning is more important have no connection to the school other than as fans. I wouldn't care if people in the Atlanta Falcons front office got caught lying either.

Thank you wise oh one.
Arrogant twip.

How many times do we have to go over this? The UTAD has a completely separate budget from the rest of the university. The UTAD exists to pay for itself. The token contribution they make to the academic side is so small that it doesn't even show up as a line item on the UT-Knoxville budget.

If by arrogant you mean not stupid enough to think athletics fund higher education, you got me.
I think he meant to say thanks for the correction and to apologize for presenting such silliness.

What he meant to say was **** YOU!!!
Ban me please.

Do what? He refuted your silliness. You sarcastically called him wise one, but he is clearly the wiser on this topic.

Don't go away mad, bra.
