Would you want Bruce Pearl back? [Pearl discussion — merged]

Mismanaged how? Did the old admin tell him to lie straight to the NCAA when presented with photo evidence of recruits at his house? Should Tennessee have just never fired him and let the show cause play out? Debatable. But Bruce burned the bridge. Not Tennessee.

Tennessee should have done what LSU and a couple of other schools said to the NCAA, i.e. that we don't think it was a significant violation, we're not helping you punish him and if you do anything more than suspend him, we're going to court. NCAA is terrified of litigation.

The only mismanagement was Tennessee not firing him before the NCAA gave him his showcause. I don’t deny that he is a very good basketball coach but his character has been in question even before he came to Tennessee. He ethics puts him in the same boat with Pruitt.
Hey, VolinVonore, don't know how often you get to Loudon, but a good friend of mine is leading her girl scouts in selling cookies outside the Food City there, today and Sunday.

Barnes has built a program. When he leaves, the foundation will still be there, especially with White as the AD. When Bruce leaves, it will probably be for a reason, and they’ll be searching for their version of Donnie Tyndall.

I find it hard to believe that Bruce would risk getting fired at what is likely his biggest contract he’ll ever see again. Bruce would have to kill someone to get fired in this era of NCAA recruiting.

WTF do Tenn fans always act like scorned boyfriends after their girl cheated…?…”if only I could have them back”…. It’s effing nauseating. And the fact we have to constantly hear it in in football with Kiffin and basketball with Pearl makes it a double beatdown.

Can anyone live in the present any more?

Would you choose Pearl or Barnes to lead and prepare your team if the next game was the most important game of the year for you?

Without a doubt I would choose Pearl.

There's more creativity, more gamesmanship, more win at any cost, more do or die with Pearl.

He finds ways to get a few more incremental points to win games.

He's a gamer. He's a big game coach.
Well today was an important game....

Bruce is fat, smelly, and sweats like a pig.

I went to school when Tennessee was winning SEC championships with Dale Ellis and coach Don DeVoe. Aside from an odd year or two, Tennessee basketball was pretty much irrelevant from that era until Pearl got to the Hill. He lied about a freakin’ barbecue which he hosted in an attempt to reel in top notch recruits. He LOVED UT. Almost got us to a final four if not for a last second shot by Michigan State and had us at #1 in the nation for a very brief stint after beating Kansas (or maybe it was Memphis).

Will always appreciate what Coach Bruce Pearl did for Tennessee. Plus his ex-wife naming her Knoxville salon Alimony was classic.

I loved Bruce at UT. But, he is no longer our coach. He is the general of our enemy. His troops stomped on our school’s name on the floor. He either has taught them this or has allowed them to do this. It’s like your ex wife. Loved her when you married her but now that the biotch is gone, don’t want her back.

Did you love Bruce or your ex-wife more?
