WOW...Holly Fighting Back Tears At Post Game Presser

Things are always going on inside programs. Who cares? It's about playing good basketball and winning--and we haven't played good basketball since Warlick took over. We have no aura, Voltopia, what in the world are you talking about?

One other thing, If I'm a coach and a player is /consistently/ demonstrating a poor attitude or poor effort, you bench that player or you kick that player off the team. One gets the impression that that is an issue. Warlick is the biggest problem with this team--she can't inspire or motivate---but there may be other problems. Anybody who's not playing hard should be benched--period. And then go find a new coach--starting now.

Holly fighting back tears....

Making a lot of the fans of Coach Summitt fight back tears when watching the Lady Vol basketball program disintegrate under your coaching. New AD, get us a COACH.

Let coach Law finish out the season & watch how different the team will play

What does that mean? I'm genuinely curious; is the implication that she would do better? I don't recall her having any success at Illinois during her stint there; they never made the tournament if I recall correctly.

It was last year Holly got so frustrated with the team and stopped coaching mid game, Elzy took over and won the game and looked better too.

Sure it does. If Tennessee REALLY had no aura then none of us would be talking about it. Go check most women's basketball message boards. There's maybe, what, a few posts a week? Compared to here? Where we want to fire a coach who's made the NCAA tournament every year and racked up plenty of wins. But we're not happy, because this is Tennessee and in our minds you do *more* at Tennessee. Tennessee definitely has an aura. We expect more of the Lady Vols than most do of their programs.

And again, with the benching, they have 8 players. What happens when you kick one off the team? Now you have 7. Kick off two, you have 6. There's just some logistical issues to kicking players off a shorthanded roster.

Did Nicki Fargas care about how kicking off her star player would hurt her team when she kick Danielle Ballard off before the season started and had to play a few walk ons due to injury? You have to establish a precedent as a coach and let players (current and future) know that some things will not be tolerated

These are scholarship players they stay. Coach must go.

Did she have the same talent there that she would have here? Same resources? Holly has outlined all the team has done with Laws assistance;

She is the reason for Diamonds turn around last year (took her out to dinner and the season changed from there)

She is the reason we landed Westbrook and Davis

She also went and worked with Cooper when cooper was struggling early in the season and many around here were saying she was overrated

She struggled at Illinois her first time as a Head Coach and wasn't handled a Top 5/10 program (at the time)

Kicking any Lady Vol off the team would have me in Knoxville with a pitchfork and torch.

The only person that needs to be kicked off the team is Holly!

Im not advocating anyone being kicked off because I truly dont think they are the problem either, I was saying if there were truly a cancer on the team you can still get rid of them

Sure once TN gets a new LV coach and if the problem ensues then kick that player off the team.

But Holly must go first. She's the primary issue/problem. She's getting paid over 100,000 to say she doesn't know what the problem is on why her team is losing? She's got to go like yesterday.

I agree. This has become the norm. I've seen high school teams look better than this. I don't understand how people continue to think that coaching is not an issue. This is an embarrassment. We need a young coach that can come in and turn things around. This team looks lost and plays with very little passion at all. Holly rarely makes in game adjustments. We have the resources to be an Elite program, but slowly and surely we are becoming irrelevant. It's hard to see everything Pat built just go down in flames.

I have read each post and I feel said and disappointed. I do not think anything else can be said about this team and the lack of coaching.

My family has supported UT for many years. We especially love our Lady Vols but know something needs to be done immediately. I believe a change at the top has to come ASAP. We cannot throw our players under the bus and we have to be patient as the team is rebuilt.

We all need to take a breath and see what happens next. Hopefully, we will see a light at the end of this very dark tunnel.

I truly never thought it would get this bad! Lets keep the FAITH!

The thing about it is if she resigns now, the team could possibly pick up steam and salvage the season, sometimes it just takes another voice

I actually felt sorry for her! I sense that her "I don't know" is genuine at this point...she seems to be nearing a breaking point. As she said, I truly believe she loves this team. That doesn't change my opinion that a change must be made to salvage Lady Vol Basketball! Tough decisions are ahead for the powers that be...

Holly is a very good assistant coach. I'm afraid what we may have here is the Peter Principal in action.

Mickie DeMoss, on the other hand, proved at Kentucky that she is a real head coach with the ability to coach during the game--not just recruit.

Warlick, for the good of the program, should resign--right now. Let an assistant take over for the rest of the year and go find a great young dynamic coach. SERIOUSLY. The buck stops with the coach. It always stops with the coach. She should resign, an assistant should take over, bench Reynolds and Deshields, play walk-ons if you have to--and find a great youngish coach.

Amen!!

What I think we need is a rebounding presence. Pat's teams always had a great off side rebounder. When my daughter played she rebounded on both ends as a guard. On defense, I think the guards play too high. defense should be played from the floor up. I know everyone wants to run, but maybe, just maybe, we should slow the offense down, make sure every player touches the ball before a shot is put up. At least our turnovers may go down. Go Lady Vols!

Part of this short bench situation is because of bad recruiting. We recruited 2 for 2014-2015 season and 0 for the 2016-17 season. Holly has to accept the blame for a short bench. Some of us like to make excuses for Holly and throw players under the bus. She is the captain of this ship and needs to accept the responsibility for her players ineptitude and the reason she cannot understand how to correct the problem. How many years have we continued to commit an outrages number of unforced errors? We have a motionless offense that miss easy layups and throw up 3 point bricks.

did anybody watch the UConn / texas game today? Tx was moving the ball, getting good pressure on D and scoring well. Then, Geno put in the girl from Tn, Dangerfield and totally changed the game. She hit a long 3, hustled her butt on D and got the ball moving on O.

Texas never got it going again. :(

We need better players and more of them. :(

I've lost faith in our bench ever making a difference and DD has been ruined by our coaching staff.

The recruiting misses are a definite issue and they've put the team roster in a spot that's hard to work with, agreed.

The offensive woes, or rather, the lack of organization around those woes, I'd also agree, fall on the staff and the coach. I'm not sure how we got to a place where we lose the ball so often, but, we do.

Perhaps bring a new coach in immediately, and empower him or her to toss off the team anyone who is being detrimental to the TEAM. I suspect there iS someone who is bringing the team down--by attitude or by "being the boss" or by keeping a clique going (even if a clique of two). Even if it means playing walk-ons the rest of the year. Desperate times call for...

It is time to bring respect back to Lady Vol B'ball! Sometimes that means biting a huge bullet and doing something severe!

Amazing Tennessee hadn't been out of the top 25 in over 30 years. Holly will have managed to coach the team out of it in consecutive seasons in just her fifth year. And it isn't like the Lady Vols have played a brutal schedule. Today was the first ranked team they've played....
